I see the resemblance to The House in the Cerulean Sea but it didn‘t quite give me the same feels. Would still recommend this, mostly because of the secondary characters.
#12Booksof2024 This book had the biggest impact on me this year, as it relates to producing a visceral reaction. In retrospect, this was probably my trauma being triggered by the existential horror of it all, but I don‘t regret finishing it. This one will have you thinking about what it really means to “shuffle off this mortal coil”.
Honorable mention to How to Make Friends With a Ghost which I adored. 🥹👻
I probably did this book a disservice by racing through it on the last day of the year but what a gorgeous book.
I learned so much about living through the Sri Lankan civil war between 7 Moons and Brotherless Night. This is a perfect pairing if you have read one. 7 Moons is beautifully told, I love the concept and the character of Maali was well chosen.

Thank you so much, @TieDyeDude for this amazing #stockingstufferswap gift! My fave chocolate, two perfect book choices and that gnome book protector 😍😍😍 all the love!!! Cannot wait to light the candle, brew up some tea, and read! (And it‘s actually cold and gross in SC this week, so it‘s a perfect time for it! @Avanders
I loved this book! So many subtle life lessons here.
When you agree to take a friend to a doctor‘s appointment that should last 2 hours or so, it doesn‘t hurt to take a book you haven‘t started yet so you don‘t run out of reading material.
