Leaders of the Pack: A Werewolf Anthology | Jeff Strand, Ray Garton, David Wellington

Pickpick

I think werewolf stories are my favorite type of monster stories. This was a really great anthology and I liked everything in here. These are not romance werewolves, these are the dark and gritty kind. Many of my favorite authors are featured here, including Ray Garton and Jonathan Janz and Jeff Strand. There are also stories by new to me authors that I will seek out in the future.

This book is about a young woman who has escaped from her life to an Scottish island bed and breakfast. During her time there she deals with her past and things she‘s done that she now regrets. During this time, she also has a fling with a vampire. The language is raw and sexual in many parts. It‘s a character driven book and very much in her head. I liked it. It was strange, but kept me interested.

How I loved this book! You can‘t help but love a Vampire in therapy.. Interwoven sections have different characters but are all linked by Prof Edward Weyland. Vampire Extraordinaire. Loved him. Pub date 1980. This is first edition copy from my library. I would‘ve contacted the author enthusiastically but she passed in 2023. I loved her creativity👌🏽

You know you married the right guy when he surprises you with a book he ordered that he knew you‘d love.

Tried to get my hands on this for years as a teen. Guess I‘ll finally see what all the fuss is about with the reprint!

I‘m not sure what was not telling with this book, but maybe it really was aimed at a much younger audience. Sometimes YA can be good, sometimes not so much.

Yeah, nah, this is not sustainable.

I suppose on the bright side the house is silent and I‘m getting reading time 😩
