Reading very much out of my comfort zone, I‘m in East Los Angeles in the current century with Pastor Gregory Boyle and the congregants and residents of the area in this nonfiction account of Boyle‘s outreach efforts.

BarbaraJean Ohhh, I want to read this! Greg Boyle has been referenced a LOT in my spiritual direction studies this year. 2mo
Ruthiella @BarbaraJean I think you will get a lot out of it given your interests. I appreciate what Boyle is saying a lot about humanity. (edited) 2mo

Ruthiella @Deblovestoread Glad to hear it! 😃 2mo
Christine I have to get to this one. I‘m just finishing a semester of teaching incarcerated folks, many of whom grew up in SoCal gang life. They are remarkably thoughtful and diligent students. I wish they‘d met Boyle and been offered a different path. 2mo
Ruthiella @Christine That‘s wonderful that you are teaching people who are incarcerated. Education is such a game changer. One of the things Boyle underscores in this book is that it‘s never too late to change one‘s path. 2mo
