pickA group of bandits takes in a nun and gets more than they bargained for... This was a fast-paced story with interesting characters. I would have liked to read more of their adventures by the end, the world had a fascinating history. And the writing was funnier than I expected

pickA book I wouldn't have read without #QueerBC and it's a soft pick. The characters were interesting enough, but I've lost track of who's who at some point. I did like the nun a lot though. Sadly, I don't think this will stay with me for a longer period. I can't even remember the title right 😅

pickA nun joins a group of “roving contractors“ who are on their way to make a delivery while avoiding bandits and mata (some sort of paramilitary secret police?).
I enjoyed this stand alone novella, though it did feel more like an incident taken from a much longer work. If that longer work exists, I would definitely read it.

Interesting read about some bandits who are joined by a nun on their escapes. I found the language a little stilted and the word choice odd in places.
Read early for June #QueerBC! My Libby hold came in before expected.

pickI had confused this with the Empress of Salt & Fortune - but a happy mistake as I found this absolutely hilarious. It starts with a brawl in a coffee house ending with the waitress, a nun of the order of the pure 🌕 reflected in water tracking down a group of bandits & angrily asking to join them on their travels. Trouble is never far behind - I did get a little lost in the names (there is a handful of bandits to keep track of) in the audiobook.
On the way to the red book 📕 one may travel through literary history.

I would like to point out that the back of the book jacket has 'Praise for Zen Cho' (the author, not the book), and amongst these is the quote from John Scalzi “fun and full of adventure“. I'm thinking that's probably in reference to a different book. There are hijinks and high action moments, there is banter, 1/?
I mean, if you're going to have a religious order, ensuring your nuns can kick ass if necessary just seems practical. 💁🏼♂️
