Interesting read about some bandits who are joined by a nun on their escapes. I found the language a little stilted and the word choice odd in places.

Similarly to LGBTQIA+ gatherings being broken up by policing forces, the magic users in this book run secret broom races, hidden from the persecuting eye of the law. I‘m not a huge poetry fan, but Ocean Vuong gets me everytime. Some poems hit harder than others. While not as good as Night Sky With Exit Wounds, I really enjoyed this.
Hearing him speak in 2022 transformed the way I think about poetry and he was very insistent that everyone can be a writer/poet - you just have to write! It really inspired me.

pickI read this with #QueerBC a while ago and am catching up on reviews. This book dives into second-generation Muslim American experiences, friendship, trauma, and being LGBTQIA in this community. The pacing and character development are well utilized, and the stories shared paint a strong picture. It was distressing that the girls‘ trauma was never addressed, often true in real life. pickDanika has a lot on her plate between doing tarot readings & working for her mother‘s detective agency. She finally gets to use her skills when a classmate disappears, & she gets to lead her 1st case.
Such fun! A strong narrative voice for Danika, pacing was mostly good (if a bit slow in the middle), & I loved all the characters. The final reveal didn‘t feel as set up as I wanted, but would definitely read a whole series of Danika! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Yang‘s world building always captivates me. & the queer normative cultures are amazing. This is a lovely, quick tale of finding where one belongs, discovering what duty really means, & finding love.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

I liked this one a bit better. Better pacing, fascinating & even more expansive world building, & less focus on the destined romance. But I really wish we could have seen more into the relationship of the 3 sisters, & the ending really disappointed me. 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

So interesting! Grant does such an amazing job making me love characters, even the advance spy of a race coming to destroy humanity. There were a couple pacing issues, but the horror was so well done, & the ending took me completely by surprise!🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
