Road Fever | Tim Cahill
post image

One of my issues with reading challenges is that the list usually changes before the metaphorical ink is dry. For example, I ended up reading The Spy Coast early, so I replaced it with Road Fever which was rec‘d by a friend after I made the list. There was some cursing involved in making the original collage, so I‘m not updating it! #14books14weeks

Anyway, this was a little dated but informative and interesting (once they finally hit the road).

Ruthiella Still, that‘s some good progress! 49m

A good friend gave me this book, it‘s very much not what I usually read. But I‘m glad I did. There are no easy fixes or answers. Boyle asks only that we have compassion for our fellow humans.

“The strategy of Jesus is not centered in taking the right stand on issues, but rather in standing in the right place-with the outcast and those relegated to the margins.”

#14books14weeks

I have somehow lost track if we are still on week one or if we are in week 2? Either way I have finished 3 books! The tagged has been my favorite.

Up next Anne of Green Gables.

Ruthiella Nice work! I have yet to complete even one! 🙊😂 4d
ChaoticMissAdventures @Ruthiella I am rushing through the first ones because I am going to lose steam soon! 4d

Raising Hare: A Memoir | Chloe Dalton

I love it when a book gives me really interesting information about something it had never occurred to me to think about. I am now officially a fan of hares. I really didn't think that a book about a woman's lockdown project of looking after a hare would be all that interesting, but it really was.

The Empress Murders | Toby Schmitz

Oh boy! That was a lot! It starts as a 1920‘s shipboard murder mystery featuring a dizzying number of characters, all with complicated backstories, and evolves into a gruesome horror/disaster story. Underlying it all is the horror of the First World War and under that the evils of centuries of imperialism. I would never have chosen to read it if I didn‘t love Toby Schmitz. I think I‘m glad I did, but I need to wash my brain now 😵‍💫🤢 #ozfiction

To save his family‘s business, Matti is ready to marry a woman he doesn‘t love. Hiring a swordsman to act as his best man for the wedding may create as many problems as it solves.

A really lovely historical romantasy. Matti‘s dedication to his family broke my heart, & I loved the development both in him & in the love story. It is very slow, & I think The Last Binding series is stronger narratively, but the tension is good & paced well.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Jari-chan Why is this book constantly showing up in my feet?! Reading destiny wants to tell me something 🤣 3d

The story of two teens who find the friendship they desperately need in high school and how a dramatic occurrence and also the passing of time both changes that relationship and doesn‘t. Bunny and Michael were such well crafted characters that the plot seemed secondary to me. I just felt like I knew these kids and worried about them. #14books14weeks book 3
