The second book in the saga starts with a shock and introduces real stakes. This gets you fully invested for the long haul.

A fresh twist on the end of the world genre. Some of the most legitimately scary scenes I've read in years!

It's always hard to pick a book when some asks what is your favorite. Until you read this, because this is always the answer.

One of the finest science fiction books I've ever read. It's a big space opera that honors its influences without calling them out. Couldn't put it down.

I'm sorry it took me so long to start this series. The first book of The Dark Tower is a slow burn that hooks into you before you know it. Though his inexperience shows through, the story is pure Stephen King.

The first Harry Hole book I read is actually the third in the series. The main character is gruff and the right kind of world weary. The WW 2 set side story is incredible.
