Enjoyed this book. Some new concepts and great use of existing concepts. A unique scifi book that was very enjoyable

Last book in the great Mistborn trilogy. I wasn't crazy about the ending but it worked. Definite great read!

Boy on the Bridge | M R Carey

A great sequel that is every bit as enjoyable as the first. The concept of second generation hungries made wonder how that could happen, but as it wasn't a central point to the overall book, I was able to overlook it and viewed the new type of zombies as natural evolution of a new species. (The new species is partially explained in the epilogue)

Surprise Me | Sophie Kinsella
Panpan

I love Sophie Kinsella books, but this one totally missed the mark. It was predictable, a little contrived, and devoid of the humour I've loved in her other books.

Bostonmomx2 I‘m just starting it and I‘m already put off by their reaction to some doctor telling them they should have a nice long marriage. Who wouldn‘t be thrilled at that (assuming you‘re happy at your 10year mark like these two are). I don‘t know. I‘m already feeling like dumping this one. 7y

After You: A Novel | Jojo Moyes
Panpan

Hard to compare with Me before you, but even as a stand alone there wasn't a lot of emotion or chemistry in this book. In Moyes' first book, the chemistry and emotions lept off the page. Not so with this one. I had high hopes, as it started well, but it was disappointing.

This is a long one and tou have to like the science to keep with it. Really enjoyed the book but some might finding too slowly paced.

I started out really liking the book, but at the end just felt annoyed and couldn't be happy about her happily ever after.

A little intriguing but not sure I buy into the ending.

MelissaS I‘m listening to this now and I‘m not sure I‘m buying the story! Can‘t wait to see what you mean about the ending! 7y

The Buried Giant: A novel | Kazuo Ishiguro

The ending is still with me! I understand why some people feel this is plodding and have a hard time connecting with the characters, but I feel that is very intentional... it lulls you into the existence as the characters. And then the end gets you. I loved this book!

Becker So well put. 7y

An interesting but very long trip through history and how various events could have changed the economy of nations. It could have been much shorter though many of the historical events were interesting.

Really enjoyed this humble and realistic view at medicine and the impossible standards we hold our medical professionals to. It will make me rethink how I select my doctors and the concept of malpractice and malpractice lawsuits

A sad story of our court system, especially when it comes to death row. I would have preferred more stories and less politics, but Bryan makes some great points.

Love this book! I just finished it and it's on my list to reread. Amor Towles easily akes you yearn for the romanticism of the 19th century, the era of true gentlemen, and yet smoothly transitions you into the 20th century. So many lovely quotes and phrases and truisms.

Really enjoyed the book. There are some great characters but also some that could use more devlopment. There are some interesting political ideas that are lightly but blatantly touched on, but at least it doesn't detract too much from the actual story. I am enjoying this series.

The audiobook narration isn't as good as Crazy Rich Asians. The performance was good but by comparison.... the story was amusing and outlandish and everything you should expect if you read the first book.

So many sad stories. Death row is a polarizing and political issue but I would have preferred the political aspects to be less in your face. It was still a good read and I would dedin itley recommend it.

Really enjoyed this light hearted book. The best way to describe it is Sophie Kinsella meets Amy Tan. I listened to the audiobook on my commute and the audio narration was wonderful!

Interesting premise but I just couldn't get into the characters to care. Curious about what caused t the spin is really what kept me reading for as long as I did.

The book did a great job of capturing the struggles of transgender even if the end was a bit DIsney-ish. Remembering It is a YA book makes this ending understandable.

Enjoyed this book and looking forward to the sequel. An interesting, dark world was created with just enough fantasy elements for the sci-fi/ fantasy lover in me. There are some political and historical undertones but they are intertwined with the story and characters enough it doesn't detract from the story too much.

I love a good mystery, and enjoyed thus book. I loved the small town tone of the bok. It gets a little preachy at the end but it can be somewhat ignored.

I was due for a reread of this one and chose to do it via audiobook. Listening to Jeremy Irons reading this is like ear candy. I could listen to this all day, every day! Lovely story, wonderful narration!

I listened to the audio book, which was a great performance. I can see where others may find this life changing, but having moved many times in my life, i had already come to most of her conclusions and approach already. Though I still hate folding clothes! It's a quick read so I would still recommend it.

Bill's dry wit as he explores Australia will make you want to immediately plan a trip to Australia and at the same time get your affairs in order in case you don't make it back. If you like travel books, this is a great read. If you're not, it's probably one of the better ones out there.

Already a tea person, I am now ready to start a collection of pu'erh tea. Lisa See has a talent for wrapping a lovely, emotional stories around rich historical settings. This book is no different.

Interesting book on the history of class and "class warfare" from the founding of the country to modern day politics. Interesting to see how the concept of the "American dream" was conceived, changed, and used to support various agendas. A good read, if you like bits of alternative views of history, but not a favorite.

A lovely coming of age book based in Brooklyn. Glimmers of segregation, income disparity, but overall a good book about learning your parents are not infallible.
