Just a couple of the great Kindle deals today!!!! I bought Crazy Rich Asians just to add to my huge mountain of a tbr. I may not read it anytime soon but the deal was great! 🤷♀️
Definite pick! Love the book, love the movie!
I liked the novel, but I'm not sure I'm interested in reading the rest of the series. There were too many characters that I didn't like to read about.
Up late tonight with leg cramps. After slathering on some muscle supporting salve and making a kettle of hot water, I'm enjoying the quiet stillness of the late night hours with a cup of hot Christmas tea and reading more of my library book. Hopefully I will have this one finished up by the time I go to sleep tomorrow!
Difficult to say I enjoyed this. I enjoyed how the characters‘ relationships were shown but the whole lists of designers. That bored me to tears. I tried to see the irony and the second degree I think the author tries to infuse to his story. I enjoyed the movie more than the book. Especially since book!Eleanor is not even at the level of movie!Eleanor. I might read the next book if only to see what happens to Astrid. #booked2019 #movie
Finishing up this one tonight while watching Malkin be 🔥😁
Wow this book put me in a slump 😰
I just didn‘t find it as captivating as the movie, I found it dragged and that there were WAY too many characters, it got so confusing!! I did enjoy the overall plot and the descriptive imagery
Crazy Rich Asians, if you didn‘t know, is the story of when Nicholas Young convinces his girlfriend Rachel Chu to come with him to Singapore for the summer to go to his best friend‘s wedding and to meet his family. The only issue is that they are unimaginably wealth and he doesn‘t warn Rachel in advance.

How did you choose this book: I watched the movie, and realized there was a book. I want to compare which format gives more details.
Write a brief summary of the novel; who was the protagonist; what was his/her problem and how was the problem resolved?
Loved this! I read the book after watching the movie and realized that the book was about 1000 times better! I absolutely fell in love with this series and am glad that the movie introduced me to an author who captures his audience with vivid imagery and authentic real-life situations!
I almost bailed on this book halfway through. Had I not seen the movie and known things ended ok (albeit different, in the movie) I would have.
The scenes following the conservative, rich characters were EXCRUCIATING. Hearing them get scolded made it worth carrying on.
A rare instance where the movie was better; despite losing rich backstory in adaptation we don't have to spend a much time listening to high-society snobs, much to my relief
⭐⭐⭐ I had a hard time finishing this one. As much as I loved Rachel and Nick's story, I found there were way too many characters. I couldn't remember who half of them were. Maybe if I would have been already familiar with Asian family lineage and clans it would have made it clearer. #crazyrichasians #kevinkwan
I absolutely love this book!
Unfortunately, this book was not for me. While I enjoyed the idea of a look at a new-to-me part of Asian society, I did not enjoy the execution. The plot was weighed down by incessant descriptions of every outfit, watch, and car in view. I felt like most of the characters, the rich women in particular, were mean and catty and self-absorbed. I rolled my eyes throughout and wanted it to be over well before the not-an-ending.
I haven't stayed in an RV since I was a small child but it turns out that this one is an absolute perfect reading nook! There is a nice bright overhead light above the bed and a curtain to close out distractions. Perfect for staying up into the wee hours after starting a book at midnight 🚌📚😬
This was a fast paced, entertaining break from my more serious reads. Young New York professor, Rachel,is in a long term relationship with fellow professor, Nick. He invites her to his home in Singapore at the end of the school year. She loves Nick, but his family is “as they say” another story. Can‘t wait to see the movie!
I can‘t keep all the characters straight! And I‘m only a little over an hour into my audiobook. Help me! Ha ha Ha ha ha
I have this rule that when I reach 100 pages mark with a book I'll decide to either read it through or bail. This one I decided to bail. Just couldn't get into the story&characters at all. I felt like this book would have needed a bit more editing. I rarely leave books unfinished because I like to finish what I start but this just isn't for me. ☹
