This SF book can keep anyone on the edge of their seats and make them want to keep reading. The best thing about it is it has a series and movies to go along with it! This would be a goo book for lit circles. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.brighthubeducation.com/middle-school-english-le... #ucflae3414su17

DrSpalding Remember that the intended audience is for middle school and higher however younger children have read this book independently. Fantastic SF! 7y
SamanthaPuglisi I want to read this series!! I really enjoyed the movies and I've heard the books are even better. 7y
Steph_Castro I have read all of the books in this series. They're very engaging and I think kids at a higher reading level would love to read these books. 7y
casandraopont @Angiepuc this is one of my favorites! I definitely recommend reading Graceling, if you liked this. 7y

Loved this B book! Hearing my peers read this book was motivational and gives you so much insight just how far women in the country have came to be so powerful and make a huge difference. This would be great to use during women history month. This activity could be used to encourage other girls (also boys) on how they will make a difference. #ucflae3414su17 http://www.booknerdmommy.com/persisted-mini-biography-activity-idea/

DrSpalding There is a lot of buzz about this new book on Twitter. ❤️📚Check it out! 7y
Diana_S I loved the art of this book and how beautifully each story was summarized for every woman, it made me want to learn more about each of them. 7y
StefanieS I've been wanting to get around to reading this book! It should be in all classrooms showing how far female's have come today. It will also give males an insight on what women have done. 7y

LOVED this RF. I always tend to pick books with children in disabilities so I will hopefully be able to connect with them when I begin teaching. This book would also be a great lit book like we did. #ucflae3414su17 http://sharondraper.com/bookdetail.asp?id=35

Jerricajay I loved this book too! It was such a good read. Love how the author pulled at your heart strings and made you smile, while opening your eyes all in the same chapter. 7y
DrSpalding I ❤️ that you both loved this book. This should be shared with children! 7y
DrSpalding Wow. Excellent resource. I had no idea that this book has been translated into 20 languages! Fantastic! 7y

I loved this TL book when I read it in elementary school and loved reading it today. No surprise this ones a Newbery winner! This class story of a girl in her pig will have you in tears. This quick activity would be perfect during center time or after you read a quick chapter. http://pin.it/p5S_-BN #ucflae3414su17

melissaallam I'm currently reading this book as well! I remember my 2nd grade teacher reading it aloud and loving it so I decided to read it myself. I wish I hadn't seen the movie because all I can picture when I'm reading is the movie version. 😕 7y
Ashleywwolfe It has probably been 25 years since I've read this and I don't know how I never saw the movie! Sounds like I'm needing to re-read and live out my childhood memories again! 7y
Kennedys I've seen both of the movies, but somehow I've never read the book. A classical story like this never gets old! 7y
DrSpalding Yes! It's a Newbery winner and I like to see you highlighting this in your post! Talking 🐷 = Animal Fantasy.🙂 7y

What Do You Do With a Tail Like This? | Steve Jenkins, Robin Page

This NF book builds suspense by only showing you a nose, tail, ears and so on and then tells you what animal it is and their special characteristic. The end of the book even tells you more about the animals. This audio has a bearded dragon with you reading! https://youtu.be/kRVA9NlHyss #ucflae3414su17

Elizabethhunt96 This book sounds really fun to read! It's hard to find non fiction books that are engaging and this sounds like a good one! I like your video resource too! 7y
Ashleywwolfe Oh my gosh, the link was awesome that you shared! And a NF option that actually sounds engaging and fun is always appreciated! 7y
DrSpalding Who wouldn't want to read with Bernard, the bearded dragon? Excellent link to compliment this Caldecott award winning book! 7y

This classic P book by Dr. Seuss himself is so fun to read and kids usually catch on pretty quick and begin reading it themselves! Although this is a long P it certainly keeps you entertained. This activity involves parents and get kids excited about reading. http://www.seussville.com/parents/activities/mapping-the-places-you-ll-go #ucflae3414su17

Jerricajay My LA teacher senior year read this book to us on the first/last day of class, and I still remember how it made me feel to this day! This shows people of all ages can take something away from this book and appreciate it 7y
Ashleywwolfe I have seen whole classrooms centered around this book, it's theme is great for really any age! I really like the resource link too- some original ideas! 7y
DrSpalding It's an excellent gift for graduation and the words ring true still, as you pursue your goals! Including the Suessville website is fantastic. This makes for an excellent addition to any author study. 7y

This HF book tells the life of a young girl moving from her home in Mexico to California in the Great Depression. This book was an excellent read and can relate to ESOL children in your classroom who also miss their hometowns and are adjusting to a a new life in a new town. This activity can help connect kids to the book and today's world. #ucflae3414su17 http://pin.it/YxjsMPs

DrSpalding Seeing the award on the front, tells us all that this is a high-quality book. Excellent choice Angie! Please be sure to include a hyperlinked URL that provides classroom application ideas for this wonderful multicultural book. 7y

This RF book is based off the shooting at Virginia Tech with changes to fit this characters life. The main character has Aspergers and is trying to find closure after her brother has been shot. This book will make you cry and smile at the end and help you have a better understanding of students with disabilities. This would be for 5-8th grade. #ucflae3414su17 https://youtu.be/lxp1LuTdpA4

tfundora Wow this looks like a powerful book! I honestly would really be interested in reading this book. 7y
DrSpalding You introduced me to a new book! This would be very powerful! Please include a URL. What age group do you think this would be appropriate for @Angiepuc ? 7y

Fish is a Tree is a RF and was one of New York Times best sellers. I loved this book and would think every teacher can benefit from reading it to help understand what goes on inside a child's held with a learning disability. Found this activity that ask reflecting questions and also helps students understand similes. http://pin.it/npOz-aE #ucflae3414su17

DrSpalding I recently read this as well. Can you find a resource and include it in a comment? I think this could be an excellent literature circle selection in the intermediate grades. 7y

Mehso-so

This F book by Jackie Urbanovic was not my favorite. It was my first time reading it and I listened to it on audio which confused me of who was speaking because the reader was using a puppet to speak for most parts which had the same voice for every character. It's a funny story line, but for students I would read the book first and over exaggerate the voices then show them the audio. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zoxWYy8BHrY #ucflae3414su17

DrSpalding Honest comment. I like to hear that you would do a better read aloud for your students.❤️📚 7y

The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister is a great F story for young children and has a life lesson of why sharif is important. I listened to this book on YouTube and it's small graphics and music added to the suspense of the book and make it very enjoyable to listen to. https://youtu.be/r9mryuEKkKc #ucflae3414su17

SamanthaPuglisi This book is such a classic, I love it! I like the idea of listening to it as a video, it could definitely get students engaged. 7y
DrSpalding This is a classic! Sharing and caring for one another should be of paramount importance in your classroom. This book could broach the subject with your students. Storyline online is an excellent resource. Make sure it hyperlinks in your post.🙂 7y
StefanieS I just bought this book at Barnes and Noble on sale, and was so excited. Such an awesome book, the read aloud YouTube link makes the book so engaging. 7y

This RF book has a great ending and tells young girls and boys that everyone is equal. I fell in love with the main character, Grace and how humble she was. This would be a great read near Election Day and always teaches some social studies terms. I found this book on read aloud on YouTube! Could be great for ESOL students ://youtu.be/kXCP64CGmXg #ucflae3414su17

melissaallam This is on my "to read" list! Definitely great for election season. I could see many subjects brought into this lesson. You could have a mock vote (social studies) and you could graph the results (math)! 7y
SamanthaPuglisi I used this book as part of a unit plan in my Social Studies class! The unit was on citizenship and focused a lot on voting. It's so great for breaking down the complicated concepts involved with voting and making it fun for kids! 7y
DrSpalding Wonderful peer comments. @Angiepuc be sure you include a website that extends the topic or provides a classroom application. 7y
