I read this book to my 4 year old to share some stories about women overcoming and persisting through tough times and it is an absolute amazing picture book!

The book contains 13 vignettes of strong women who “PERSISTED” and changed the world even when people told them they couldn‘t do it. The reading level of one of these books is 7th grade which is highly unusual for any book much less a picture book. Both are beautiful!

The book includes very famous feminists who have spoken up for their rights and defended themselves and other women. This book is presented in a clear way that young children can understand. This reminds me of Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls, for a younger audience. Which means I loved it! Inspirational stories about 13 women that shaped America. I loved the shout out to Elizabeth Warren in the dedication, all the women highlighted persisted despite the odds. An empowering book for growing minds.

I just purchased copies for my grade 3 classrooms and I think the teachers will be able to do amazing things with this book!

Who wouldn‘t want to read a book featuring Oprah Winfrey and other amazing women? I read that this book is great for third grade but in my honest opinion I think it is great for all ages. A great way to introduce students to some Great women of our American History.March is National Women‘s History month, this will be a great book to read to the class . For classroom activity , we will do a “Alphabet Organizer”. For every letter of the alphabet the class will add a historical name or any category previously chosen. It will be interesting to see if all the letters will be filled.
