"The past devours those naive enough for forget it"
"What is wrong with you?" Idir snapped, though to everyone else he looked like he was talking to nothing. Had he had control of his body, Malik might have shrugged.
"My mind is not the most hospitable environment"

Top 3: Lore Olympus, Paola Santiago and the River of Tears, & Incendiary
Honorable Mention: Black Flamigo
Celebration/Holiday reads: Black Flamingo and Blanca & Roja

I am the black flamingo.
The black flamingo is me
trying to find myself.
This book is a fairy tale
in which I am the prince
and the princess. I am
the king and the queen.
I am my own wicked
witch and fairy godmother.
This book is a fairy tale
in which I'm cursed
and blessed by others.
But, finally, I am the fairy
finding my own magic
So good! 4/5 stars
Black Flamingo is a poetry book about Michael a Jamaican and Greek Cypriot gay teen in London and his journey into becoming the drag artist The Black Flamingo. The book is a quick read and has some beautiful quotes on self discovery, identity, family, and racism.
Five stars for Nostalgia
When my library's Summer Reading Challenge gave me the choice of reading Stellaluna or make a puppet. I choose one of my favorite childhood books. It was a nice trip down memory lane.

Highlights:
Paola would be a great role model for other STEM Girls.
Pao is very relatable as she is dealing with everyday struggles on top of the supernatural ones and doesn't have any of the "Chosen One" abilities. Shes a normal girl just doing her best.
Book touches on racism and immigration. However Immigration part is pretty vague.
