Didn‘t know what to expect but it wasn‘t insta-love. Love, love, loved it! Definitely one I‘ll read again.
@TheAromaofBooks I forgot to post about this, but I got the pin and absolutely love it! Thank you so much 🥰
My friend annotated this book for me. It was definitely not what I was expecting but in a good way. All MCs stole my heart right away and the plot was exceptional.
Made me laugh and cry and want to live in a library all at once.
4.5⭐️
I enjoyed Sorcery of Thorns a lot! Nathaniel's snark made me laugh out loud multiple times and I really appreciated that the romance didn't overwhelm the rest of the plot. It was a fun adventure! Now, on to the next library book 📚
Don't you just LOVE BOOK MAIL?! Needed this cheer up. Managed to get these on a great second hand deal. I've been after them for so long. Yay. #booksbooksbooks #bookmail #fantasy #ya #retellings

Great YA fantasy. I liked this world of old libraries full of magical/secret grimoires protected by sorcerers. But those sorcerers can be corrupted by demons and as expected, one person wants to control the magic. Most fantasy worlds have this topic🤷🏽♀️There is some romance and family drama. Loved Silas and Nathaniel and his comments. There is a companion book that I need to read now☺️still YA 3.8/4⭐️
The job interview questions (to work in the Royal Library) include: how quickly can she run, and, whether she strongly valued keeping all ten fingers. 😆
Having worked in libraries filled with grimoires that have various skills and are fraught with danger, Elisabeth joins forces with Nathaniel and his demon, Silas, to battle evil.
This was a bunch of fun. I can‘t wait to read the new novella to see what happens next. 📚📖😬📕 #catsoflitsy
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Apparently I‘m just giving out 5 star reviews like candy on Halloween this month—this is my 4th of the month & we‘re only 7 days in! 😬 This is a super fun YA fantasy centered on a library filled with books that talk, throw temper tantrums, get into fights, &, if really unhappy, turn into monsters. Add a strong, independent heroine, brooding sorcerer, & demonic servant & you have the recipe for quite an adventure. I want more please!
First book haul of 2023–definitely leaning into fantasy with a dash of romance in the new year. I‘ve started reading the tagged book and if the remainder of it lives up to the first chapter, this is going to be a great read. 🤞
Attempting to read my book only to discover it is completely missing a page. It wasn't ripped out, it apparently wasn't there at all. I would see if I could exchange it but since I got this book when it 1st came out (and it has been sitting on my shelf since) I don't think that is even possible 😩
#YearEnd100K @MatchlessMarie Thank you very much for hosting this giveaway and congrats on your Litfluence! 🥳📚
My top three books are:
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
Rise of the Dragon Moon by Gabrielle K. Byrne
Pennyroyal Academy by M.A. Larson
Thanks for hosting this wonderful giveaway, @Rachel.Rencher ❤ My favorite genre is fantasy

It took some thinking, but this one edged to the top.
Runners Up: Six of Crows, Sword of Summer (first book bought 10/15/15), Scythe, Shadow and Bone, Serpent & Dove...so many others ...
I changed the tagged book more than a few times, tough one. Lol
Oops forgot to post my final results for #JoysOfJune. Went pretty well in the end. Finished three books and chunk read of a couple more. Around about 26 hours all in. Helped ease my slump no end.
@Andrew65
This was an interesting read. I love a book that focuses on books. The plot is steady until close to the end when it really picks up. The ending was good and tied the story off well. The characters are well written and likeable especially the lead. A good fantasy read. 4*
Just as good on a #reread. If you miss Jace Herondale, may I recommend Nathaniel Thorn? I also recommend this if you're in need of feral librarians. #yafantasy
The world building and magic system in this book was amazing. The romance was a subplot and was not distracting to the story at all. Miranda was a strong female character that didn't need rescuing. Silas was my absolute favorite. I love the chemistry that Miranda, Nathaniel, and Silas had. The end though.. I need a least a novella more on Silas!!

My husband gave me this book last year for Hanukkah, & it took me forever to finish! Overall, it‘s a fun book that features librarians as powerful fantasy heroes, & magical books. It felt like reading a fan fiction of the manga Black Butler because of Silas & the flow of action. There were a few things I didn‘t enjoy related to YA tropes I didn‘t like as a teen, & the whole “sorcerers are evil” felt incredibly forced. #BooksAboutBooks #Librarian

Left my book on the arm of the futon. It's a chin rest now. #Dog #Pets #Pomeranian #InterestingUsesForBooks
I ended up really enjoying this book. It didn‘t fall into a lot of the YA trope traps that have become so ubiquitous. Magical books and libraries are a prominent feature of the plot, which is what drew me in initially. One criticism is that the battle/fight scenes in the final third of the book did bore me, and I found myself skimming a lot through that section. I was glad the book ended definitively and doesn‘t signal a sequel/series.
Well this was super cute. I loved her affinity for libraries and books 🥰.
I am reading and wining and my bf is video gaming, while we wait for the chili on the stove to cook down. Making one of his favorite meals for the weekend: chili mac!
I was worried this would be generic, tropey YA, but so far (25% in) I am quite liking the stories and characters. It was available to borrow immediately on Libby, so I thought I would give it a chance. I hope it continues to keep me engaged! #currentlyreading
I found the plot predictable and the romance forced and unconvincing. I had some hope for a romance between Silas and Elisabeth—now that would have been surprising and interesting—but that was pretty clearly not going to happen.
From my #newyearwhodis list from @AbigailJaneBlog and was also my July #doublespin @TheAromaofBooks
I‘m loving the setting of this but… not really anything else so far. I keep rolling my eyes at the endearingly clumsy protagonist and the mysterious, hot sorcerer. I am, however, trying to give the sorcerer a better chance… it‘s not his fault I thought he was going to turn out to be a woman.
A genuinely fun YA fantasy which started strong with likeable characters, interesting world-building, and the promise of a cute romance. But it lost steam in the middle as the plot started to plod and everything started working out exactly as the main characters needed it too. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
❤️ Great narration, an interesting world and great characters. I am going to buy this eventually, it was that good. 5 stars. Raised in a great library and to believe that all sorcery is evil, Elisabeth must work with a sorcerer from one of the darkest families to save the libraries and save the world. Full of dangerous books, libraries with dungeons and lot of complicated politics, the romance is a balanced relationship among the strong plot. 5/5
This was a gift from @Branwen for a Valentine‘s Day swap and OMG am I glad you chose this book!! I enjoyed every page, and it was so nice to be able to sink into a fantasy without having to invest in a whole series! I‘m literally taking it into work tomorrow so I can force my best friend to read it next 😂
Seasonal allergies have Nina feeling a little under the weather, and boy is she clingy! She's spent the last hour sitting on me while she watches Phineas and Ferb and I sneak a few pages in here and there...
Starting an #audiobook and playing with some new books today! #librariansoflitsy #teachersoflitsy #schoollibraries
I almost forgot to open this today!! Thank you SO MUCH @Branwen - I can't wait to read this book and dig into my treats! #bookcupidswap
@candority thanks for hosting such a fun swap! ❤
Nathaniel: “You unmanageable, contrary creature. You have made me believe in something at last. It feels as wretched as I imagined”
Elisabeth: “You wouldn‘t like me if I were manageable.”
A tall, clever, strong orphan girl raised in a library full of magical books? A bisexual sorcerer with a wicked sense of humor and a sexy silver streak in his hair? Moral ambiguity and inaccurate reputations for days? Yeah, I'm in. I had to listen to the second half of this on 3x speed to finish it in time for a book club, which was less than ideal, but even so I really loved it, and it works well both in physical book form and audiobook form. 🥀
My favorite of my #newyearwhodis list so far!!! Magic, books, libraries, demons = Hannah is in love! This is the perfect magical story for a book lover and it was super refreshing to read fantasy that WASN‘T part of a series! So glad @jinxmoon put it on my radar!
#BookReport - Finished 5 books this week - 2 on audio. I got a Nintendo Switch, so the only way I can justify playing is by listening to audiobooks 😂
In progress - Reading The Huntress, about 100 pages in and liking it so far. And listening to Tuesday Mooney on audio
#WeeklyForecast - hoping to read another #NewYearWhoDis book for Jan, but I still have a bunch I plan to read in Feb
Wow! I did not expect to like this book so much! I probably would have never picked it up if not for @rachelsbrittain and #NewYearWhoDis
It has everything. A stand alone fantasy novel, sorcery, magic, libraries, magical books and a badass women wielding a sword. I‘m so glad I read this book. It did also have a romance, but it wasn‘t too annoying. I liked Elisabeth and Nathaniel.
#BookSpinBingo - finally have a bingo!

Happy day 1, my fellow slumpers! I‘m exhausted and can‘t focus for crap - getting some blood work done later to rule out some health conditions - so I‘ve pulled up my current audiobook and I‘m trying to make some progress on a back burner work project I‘ve neglected too long. #slumpathon
One of the many #newbooks I received from #BarnesandNoble! I‘ve been eyeing this for a while now and I‘m so happy to finally add it to my shelf! 😍

I‘m very excited to read this lovely book my husband gave me for a hanukkah!
I‘m adding it to my #DashingDecember reading goals: ~40 pages of this per day!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I‘ll just start with: I loved this book. Librarians with swords? I‘m hooked. But I think the most impressive aspect of this book was that Rogerson resisted the pressure to make it into multiple books. I could easily see where this could be a trilogy, but I loved that she realized it didn‘t need to be. The world was fully realized, the characters interesting & dynamic, the magic system made sense, and all in one book. Highly recommend.
Book #30 - It read a bit younger than I expected, which makes me think I‘d have enjoyed it more if I‘d read it when I was younger. I did love the library/grimoire vibes and it had an interesting take on magic. In a weird way, it reminded me of reading the first Harry Potter book - the adventures they got into.
I REALLY love the worldbuilding of this standalone book; with the Grimoires and Great Libraries? Amazing. I love Nathaniel's response to everything that remotely inconveniences him is sarcasm, Elisabeth's stubborn hardheadedness and love to protect the Grimoires and Nathaniel? Let's not forget Silas' complete lack of interest with everything and anyone but Nate and Lis.
Overall — would 100% reread
