A short, sharp satirical read from the author who penned Rosemary's Baby. I was pleasantly surprised by this, written in 1972 during the time of women's liberation movements and feminism uprisings, the book pokes fun at the typical American 1950s housewife aspirations, and turns it on its head. But it's not all fun, dark themes and an understated message about controlling men made it an intriguing read for me.

If nothing could save us, not money, not a male body, and not even studying, we might as well destroy everything immediately.

The first Ferrante novel I'd read. A sweeping tale of two young girls growing up together in post-war Naples. Sharing triumphs and tragedies, whilst they traverse puberty. Ferrante's writing is unlike any other.
I was instantly transported to the sunny Amalfi coast. Even the most decrepit houses seem beautiful. And the vast array of characters were instantly relatable. If you've thought about reading it, don't hesitate.
'All it takes,” said Crake, “is the elimination of one generation. One generation of anything. Beetles, trees, microbes, scientists, speakers of French, whatever. Break the link in time between one generation and the next, and it‘s game over forever.'

A book I've heard so many good things about. I've owned it for about a year and I've still not read it! It's definitely sitting at the top of my TBR pile. Have you read it?

A book who's premise completely intrigued me. Woman all over the world gaining the 'power' to destroy men at a single touch. Their bodies becoming an instrument to be feared rather than admired.
It started out great, the writing was fast-paced and the characters developed nicely. But the second half became a struggle for me. And I found the sexual abuse elements completely jarring. What did you think?

'She wondered if literature might lose some of its interest when she reached an age or state of mind where her life was set on such a sure course that the things she read might stop seeming so powerfully like alternate directions for her being.'
My first post here is a relevant quote from a gorgeous book (filled with awe inspiring quotes) Currently reading primarily female authors, with exceptions like above. I always welcome recommendations.
