With the Fire on High | Elizabeth Acevedo

With the Fire on High is a truly amazing sophomore novel. I knew it was going to be special because Elizabeth Acevedo is an incredible writer but it was so much more than I ever hoped it could be. It is touching and real and all around a novel not to be missed. I can‘t recommend this book highly enough, I loved it and know you will too.

I thought this book was breathtakingly beautiful. The way the author described every scene, every moment, every breath was surreal in its beauty. I loved it from start to finish but I did feel that it went on a little too long, there was a whole section towards the end that I felt easily could have been removed, I felt it was too many cruelties lined up one after the other. A solidly beautiful book with some caveats.

This books was nothing short of incredible. It was my second Taylor Jenkins Reid and it cemented her in my top authors. This book was amazing from the moment I started reading. It was so well done that I kept wanting to find the old Rolling Stone articles that they mentioned, I wanted to listen to their records. I had to keep reminding myself it was fictional. So so good!

Finished this beauty yesterday. There were parts that took my breath away. Moving and sad and so many things. It is very much worth the read. Full thoughts on the blog soon! Check out my blog now for full thoughts on Magpie Murders.

Magpie Murders | Anthony Horowitz

What a thrilling thriller! A mystery inside a mystery. Anthony Horowitz did an incredible job balancing both the book within the book and the story without. I found myself equally invested in both the Pünd mystery as well as the mystery of who killed Pünd‘s creator. A true delight for any serious mystery fan.

A truly incredible thriller! Well written, actually keep you on the edge of your seat twists and turns! Such a great read. If you are a fan of mystery at all or even if you aren‘t because you think you can “see the ending coming a mile off” read this book! The twist is brilliant!

What a fascinating read! Her passion for this case, her desire to do what she could to solve it and bring the terror of a human to justice leapt off the page. I finished reading this mere days before the news broke that they caught the monster responsible for terrorizing California. Michelle, they got him. Your passion helped catch him. Rest easy you hardcore lady! You are awesome.

I thought this was a beautiful book about very complicated things. Families, love, mental illness. Mira T. Lee has a truly beautiful way with words. Although there were parts that I didn‘t love as much as others I still found the book well done, wonderfully beautiful in a lot of ways, worth the read.

What an epic. Beautifully rendered and written. Something I know I can recommended with enthusiasm. Although there moments that felt overly done or with a tad too much description, I felt all in all that this is a truly incredible novel. This is one of those books that will stand the test of time and always be worth the read.

I love Sherlock Holmes stories. I‘ve read quite a lot of the books by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and loved it all. When I heard about this I knew I had to read it. So happy I did. It was perfectly dark and spooky and read just like one of the originals! It was magnificent! Highly recommend.

Loved this book the first time around, reading it again as a Valentine‘s treat to myself! Prepping for reading the second book in the series The Girl in the Tower. It‘s just all very exciting.

I reread this last year to get ready for “The Song Rising” and it reminded me just how good it was. I think Samantha Shannon has such a wonderful and distinctive voice and it is one I love revisiting again and again. Highly recommend.
