@Clwojick #pantone2023

I chose to go with the audiobook and wow – The casting was amazing!!! Jennifer Beals has such a voice that reflects a little bit of rasp and grit while Pablo Schreiber's voice lents it's warmth to Billy's character that makes him shine and Benjamin Bratt shines as Graham while omg Judy Greer's voice feels so spot on for Karen Karen and her quips and confidence.

I‘m a little embarrassed that I didn‘t realize this was a fictional band until the end. I‘m not the most musical and assumed they just weren‘t around long enough to still be played/common enough today and I figured several of them had died from overdoses. It was interesting, but also sad. I did like how it was written though, like interviews remembering the past.

Happy Tuesday everyone! My grandkids inspired today's questions. Everyone is welcome to play!
Hope your day is fabulous!

My answers:
📚 Yes. I remember my grandmother setting up chairs in the living room to help me make a fort. I would play for hours underneath.
📚 Daisy Jones and Six (tagged) because I grew up in that Era.

Want to play? @EadieB @Eggs @dabbe @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Blueberry @JenReadsAlot @ImperfectCJ @peaknit @Born.A.Reader

EadieB 1. Yes I remember making a blanket fort and reading in it! 4w
majkia I dunno about the fort, but I did hide under the blankets at night with a flashlight to read, since my parents disapproved of me reading so much.

As for books, the Trixie Belden series reminds me most of my childhood. (I'm old).

This is sex, drugs, and rock‘n‘roll. I listened to the audio and it was so well done. The story was good (I‘d give the story itself 3.5 stars), but (as I always do when it‘s this good), I am adding an extra ¼ star for the audio. But also an additional ¼ star for the format of the book. Cont in comments...

LibraryCin It‘s told in interviews with many of the characters: the people mentioned above, but also Billy‘s wife, Daisy‘s best friend/disco star, the band‘s producer, and many more. I think this format led really well to the audio, with each character having a different narrator for the audio. So well done! 4mo

WOW! A fictional story purportedly based loosely on Fleetwood Mac. This may be a fictional story but the book reads as though these events really happened. It's raw & honest, it's occasional sweetness wrapped up in a gut punch. It was amazing listening to this documentary style book, all the different characters, all the different voices, simply amazing! I can't tell you how many times I Googled a song to listen to! Listen to this one!🎧

I never wanted to read this, and I don't know why! I really liked Evelyn Hugo and Malibu Rising, and I LOVE full cast audiobooks. Maybe it was whatever the opposite of FOMO is...FOJI (fear of joining in 😆)? Extreme hype can turn me off sometimes. Anyway, I gave the audio a try, mostly because I wanted to try the show, and I loved it. Stellar voice performances made for a fully enjoyable and immersive audio experience.

Finished listening to my #titlesandtunes book for the month. It was a reread. I‘ve been planning to go back to the audio ever since I watched the Amazon adaptation. Since I‘d already read and seen the story this felt more like a comfort read because I knew what the tension was building toward. But I still loved being a voyeur into the scenes about the songwriting. Reading about the creative process in niche interest of mine. @Cinfhen @BarbaraBB

This is a re-listen, and I‘m loving it almost as much the second time around! Back when it first came out this was my first experience with a full cast audio recording, and that‘s an experience you just can‘t recreate.

I‘ve always associated the book with Rumors, so I‘m grabbing my favorite iconic song from that album for our playlist.

I really enjoyed this book! I think I liked Evelyn Hugo more because it felt like it had more depth to it. But this book was really fun. Lots of drama and intrigue. The format made it easy to read it super fast in one sitting. I just started watching the show and let me tell you the book is much much better. I also liked this little plot twist at the end about the author if you could even call it a plot twist.

Written as a current day interview reflecting on the renowned career of a band launched into international prominence in the 70‘s. The attention to details of each differing recollection of events made the book more lifelike. It was a super easy read. Although, towards the end it just seemed to skip the subtitles of how the main characters relationship changed so rapidly. But overall would recommend for an easy quick read.

I was skeptical about reading this book because it's not my usual thing and it's written in the form of an interview. But I LOVED IT! I love classic rock and I love reading about how bands come together and the struggles that come with being famous. Drugs were so casual a few decades ago and it blows my mind how much people used and how it was socially acceptable.
A really great book about fame, substance abuse, love, and struggle.

I listened to the audio which was great with the full cast experience. I haven‘t read any other Taylor Jenkins Reid. I feel like the more popular an author is, the more reluctant I am to go there?! 😂 unless I‘ve been a fan since book 1 (like SJM). This book reminded me of the movie Almost Famous, which I love. Definitely well done. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

LoveToReadLiveToRead I know what you mean about popular authors. I did enjoy Evelyn Hugo and just finished Carrie Soto which worked so well for me on audio. That was mostly the narrator from Carrie‘s POV but had additional cast for other bits, media reports etc, which worked was good. 6mo

I‘ve heard rave reviews but… I don‘t get it. The storytelling was interesting but the interview style was confusing early on - maybe it was because I was listening to the audiobook and not seeing the words in the page, but I lost track of the characters and ended up abandoning the book for a couple of months and starting over recently. The story was ok, loads of people behaving badly to the point it was the norm, leaving Camila as my MVP. It‘s ok.

Edit: actually so-so

I liked the innovative storytelling of this book with every member of the band telling their own take on what happened 30 years ago: from how they got together as a band, and how they ended up splitting.

Why the change: unrealistic choice of interviewer...

It's well-written with a good flow. But I must admit being disappointed in the ending, that I found cheesy... Am I the only one!?
