pickThis 2016 essay and poetry collection edited by Jesmyn Ward is powerful and compelling. The title is a reference to James Baldwin's seminal 1963 text The Fire Next Time, which is now on my TBR.
pickA "found-footage/journal/notes" book (which I thinked worked really well for this story) about a missing girl, Carly/Kaitlyn Johnson, who may live with DID or house two souls in one body. Several people are dead and someone is messing with dark powers best left to themselves. This book was exactly what I was looking to read - an entertaining horror romp with some classic horror tropes and wonderfully disturbing and, at times, grotesque imagery.
pickI am consistently mesmerized by Rios's mind blowing art, DeConnick's utterly compelling storytelling, and Belaire's jaw-dropping colors. I LOVE this comic.
