This book was adorable, predictable, uplifting, saccharine, and exactly what I wanted out of a book at this exact moment. The dialogue and character development was great. There are some aspects of the plot that were resolved too quickly for real life but I appreciate what the author was doing. My only complaint is the very last sentence. It comes across as trying too hard, it feels trite, and doesn‘t fit with the overall narrative style.

I agreed to pick my aunt up from the airport, but her flight was delayed until 1 am. Looks like I‘ll be reading for a while... loving this book so far. Leila knows she likes girls and she‘s not ready to tell anyone. Which is fine. Because she doesn‘t have a crush at school...until a new student transfers to Armstead Academy.

Leila learns the hard way which girls she should--and shouldn't-- fall for when her crush almost ruins everything. Really enjoyed this cute lgbtq romance about finding acceptance--and learning to accept yourself--even when it seems impossible.

It‘s not easy being different in school. Leila already stands out because of her Iranian background, but she also holds close to her a secret – she likes girls. It‘s a lighter read yet it discusses some complicated issues that face many teens out there – discovering their own identity, standing up for themselves and what they believe in, relationships with family and friends, and learning that it‘s ok to be different.

This one gets mixed reviews here and on goodreads, but I thought it was good! I liked the characters, and while the student who causes the problems is a tad unbelievable I still enjoyed the story. Pic is from a geocaching adventure we took today that involved a sad old tourist trap down the road.

More from my queer YA lit, with diverse voices. Its kind of a heartbreaking but fulfilling novel, that matches the tone of high school love and heartache.

Reading this as part of the Read Harder Challenge. Haven't done YA in a LONG time. Hope I can stick with it!! I like it so far.

I'm all for cute YA contemporary this week! This one is about an Iranian American girl who knows she's a lesbian but doesn't know how to come out. It's got a cute F/F friendship to relationship romance coming out story. The characters were cute and friendships relatable. I found it really enjoyable!

Listening to the audio book at my desk and trying not to let anyone see my cry at how beautiful this book is. I'm not saying anything else because spoilers but if you don't read this book you're missing out. 10/10 would recommend.

Despite some weak dialogue and secondary characters, this is a touching and realistically complicated story about falling in love and coming out in high school. It touched on emotional abuse and cultural intersections enough to be complex, but lightly enough for an overall fun and romantic story. I 💜LGBTQI stories, and wish this has been out when I was in high school! Also: my first completed read of 2017 😎🌈📚

Oh gosh, I can't say enough good things about this book. This is an amazing story of coming out, of friendship, of so much more.

Sara's books are some of my all-time favorites. I was gifted this one in a Secret Santa exchange, and am super excited!

My heart, adored this book - warm, funny and of heart and feeling. We wonderful lines that I could identify with, like that o e about needing a manual for coming out. Thumbs, toes and other things up.

Finished this during my lunch break and it took all my strength to not blubber like an emotional idiot in the break room. So excellent. Read it!

Yep, I brought home a lot of library books. 😍😄 Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce and I'm Judging You by Luvvie Ajayi are the two that are mostly covered with stickers.

Amazing. I devoured this book at warp speed. I wonder if this is realistic, but the book makes me very happy anyway.

I should get into the used books on my old bookshelf for @24in48 but instead I have this new book borrowed on my Kindle. Same-sex romance in a Persian context sounds interesting.

I really enjoyed this! I started it on a 5-hour car ride and got sucked right into Leila's world of NE private school, Iranian-American culture, toxic friendship/crushes, and high school theater. Not perfect, and a bit wrapped up in a bow, I still laughed and cringed and was thoroughly entertained.

This book was cute and super enjoyable. There were moments where I couldn't help myself and had to say, "aw" out loud. The exploration of toxic friendships and romances was great. I also liked the Persian/ American culture references. ????

These are my current reads. Tell Me Again How A Crush Should Feel is my choice for week 3 of Julia Ember's #ReadProud Reading Challenge. I look forward to reading and reviewing it.

A fun and fast read. Definitely YA but a decent coming out story and cute love interest.

I got this book at BEA two years ago, finally getting around to reading it and kicking myself for waiting so long.

One of my favorite books of all time. A must read whether or not you're LGBTQ. It's funny, truthful, and compelling. You'll probably want to read it in one sitting...

Super fun and cute read. It's pretty cliche, but I didn't care cause I'm a sucker for lgbt books. These seriously need to be more popular. Very fluffy, and exactly what I needed at the time I read it. 4 stars!
