Based off a true story! Manjiro is an actual person who did important things in order to create a relationship between Japan and America (leading to relationships with other countries).

Margi Preus does a fantastic job with this book! Before reading this, I didn't know much about the struggles the Japanese faced in America or what Japan was like during the time this story takes place. This is a fantastic book that I wholeheartedly recommend.

I watched the movie over and over as a kid. Recently I found the book and fell in love with it! Such an amazing tale about a family who stuck together and survived despite terrible circumstances. Faith and family got them through.

It took me just a week to read all six books of this series; I couldn't put it down! Michael Scott is a talented writer. I love how he brought myths to life in modern times. I equally love how he brought several well-known people from history back to life. The tale is riveting.

I read this book for the first time when I was a middle schooler and loved it. History has always been my favorite subject. Plus, who doesn't love a good mystery?! When I found it in a pile of books that the school library was giving away or tossing, I immediately grabbed it. This is a great kids' book that I still enjoy!
