Pickpick

As a classic novella of 100 pages, the book's beauty lies in its portrayal of characters, ordinary people whose lives are changed forever when they are touched by the magical and flickering presence of Holly Golightly, our colorful and stylish protagonist, the unfathomable "wild thing" and the "lopsided romantic". Perfectly paced and flawlessly chiseled, this book is a rare piece of masterful storytelling that demands revisiting.

“For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.”

Men—‘ said Miss Williams, and stopped.
As a rich property owner says ‘Bolsheviks‘—as an earnest Communist says ‘Capitalists!‘—as a good housewife says ‘Blackbeetles‘—so did Miss Williams say ‘Men!”

Pickpick

I picked up this book because I loved The Tipping Point, and I was not disappointed. I finished the book in two seatings and rarely do I enjoy a non-fiction book this much. It's a great book with a different perspective and a humbling take on the variables of success.

One day...justice will fall to you. When that day comes, you must take no pleasure in the task, but neither must you look away. A ruler who hides behind paid executioners soon forgets what death is.
