A reread from 2011 and a very good one at that. I‘d completely forgotten how it played out.

I loved this Agatha Christie classic that I hadn‘t yet read and somehow had avoided spoilers! Poirot investigates an old case involving an art monster, his wife and his muse. Great characters, mystery and gentle wit. Recommended.
In the book, detective Hercule Poirot investigates five people about a murder committed sixteen years earlier. Caroline Crale died in prison after being convicted of murdering her husband, Amyas Crale, by poisoning him. In her final letter from prison, she claims to be innocent of the murder.

Hercule Poirot looked with interest and appreciation at the young woman who was being ushered into the room.
There had been nothing distinctive in the letter she had written.

Bk14 of my #BookMail is the last of my new Dame Agatha Special Editions & one of my favourites of her Poirot novels.Caroline Crale was convicted of poisoning her brilliant painter husband in an open & shut case. After her death her grown daughter receives a posthumous letter assuring her she was innocent. She hires Poirot to look into the cold case & find the truth through the memories of the people who were there that day. Perfect English mystery.
I'm enjoying reading Christie's books in order in part because I can imagine her getting older and seeing the patterns and personalities and emotions of different ages from the perspective of age. She's always focused on character and motivation, but I find this book especially focused in that direction and in an interesting way. There may be one twist too many for my taste, but I like particularly her portrayal of the compromises of marriage.
Poirot is asked to investigate a murder that happened 16 years before. He does so by interviewing the 5 witnesses/possible suspects. As usual, I didn‘t figure it out 😂
Another Christie crossed off my #SeriesLove2023 list. This one was an interesting concept in that Poirot is asked to investigate a sixteen year old murder by talking with the five witnesses. I liked how this one was structured, with his investigation as well as the first hand accounts of each witness written out. Just when I thought I had it figured out, she threw me an extra twist at the end 😅

'Five Little Pigs' deals with the story of a woman who has been convicted and killed for the murder of her husband- the reputable bohemian artist Amyas Crale. Caroline Crale, his wife, is sentenced to death for poisoning her husband, by lacing his drink with the lethal poison coniine.

#Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView thanks a lot for the tag @Eggs !
1. I would say fast moving for modern authors, too many of them adopt the slow burn, too few of them are able to pull it off.
2.I think Agatha Christie's an absolute queen at plotting, tagged book is one of my favourites of hers, though there are so many that are wonderful.
These are fascinating questions, consider yourself tagged, everyone!!Would love recommendations for well plotted books.
Carla Lemarchant asks Poirot to revisit the murder her mother was found guilty of 16 years ago.
Excellently done. I fell for the red herring as usual.
After her mom is convicted of killing her father, a girl is sent to live with relatives. On her 21st b-day, she's given a letter from her mom declaring her innocence. Now she must find the truth about what happened. Written in the 40s, compares with modern books. Christie weaves a tangled web of secrets & deceit, giving the reader all the clues they need to figure out who committed the crime while creating enough diversions to keep them guessing

Bk16 of April(and the last!)& Bk1 of #20in4 #readathon is done! It‘s past 12am here so it‘s 1st of May🍂 This is one of my favourite Dame Agathas, it‘s more cerebral than most as the crime is so old. I really like the David Suchet Tv ep of this too. #LitsyAtoZ2021 #LetterF #PickYourPoison #ReadChristie2021 #ReadItAgainSam #HistoricalFiction #BritishCrimeClassicChallenge #VintageMysteryChallenge #BackToTheClassicsChallenge2021 #CloakDaggerChal👇
This was an intriguing story from the beginning, though not immensely attentive. Who murdered the artist? What got me was the continuous sense of woman jealousy. Especially between wife and an upcoming mistress. It was interesting in the sense that this was Poirot looking into a 16 year old case, already closed. I really thought I had the case down, but at the last moment it was turned around. Once again Agatha got me. #AgathaChristie
This‘ll be my quick Sunday read today as I recover from my weekend vaccine dose. Not too bad so far, but I feel exhausted.
The second title of this book keeps throwing me off. Either way, I‘m getting why. Poirot has been asked to investigate a murder from 16 years ago from the daughter of the charged (and died in jail) to clear her name. She claims her mother innocent, that she didn‘t kill her husband. Five pigs, five suspects. #agathachristie

Quick and easy read. I admit I wasn't as captivated by this mystery as I have been by other Christie novels but it was still entertaining all the same. I found myself half right at the end with who I thought did it. I think I prefer the Poirot books when a murder has just happened instead of in this one where Poirot investigates a murder several years in the past.
My latest book haul just came in

Back to back books about selfish, cheating men who end up dead. I feel like Christie must have been going through something.
Pretty decent time for day one of #24in48 , I think. I‘ve started on this Christie novel and hope to get at least 2 more hours in tonight.
I think Agatha Christie is a little old school for me, I love the stories, but the writing is a lot for me to take in.
This is a fun one where Poirot investigates a crime from 16 years prior - with suspects narrowed to five ‘little pigs‘ as the rhyme keeps playing in his head. I liked the structure and how each person interviewed adds bits to the overall story. Poirot always spots the important bits even when people‘s memories are blurry. Or they are lying. Lots of feminist zingers especially in regard to cheating husbands.

Trying to finish this book before the New Year! Chilling with my book and some lights! So excited! #readinthenewyear #hour1 #currentlyreading
I love Agatha Christie mysteries and don‘t spend enough time reading/rereading them! This was the first time I‘ve read Five Little Pigs. It did not disappoint! Hercule Poirot solved a murder that occurred 16 years ago, and he did it with his usual panache. The ending was quite satisfying although somewhat ambiguous. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
This puts me at 17 hours for #24B42019!
@cjbooklover and I picked up several Agatha Christie novels on sale for Kindle after Christmas. We‘re starting this one tonight! #24B42019
11-18-18: My 58th finished book of 2018! 👍🏼📖#️⃣5️⃣8️⃣
So the BEST thing happened when I was rereading this classic by Agatha Christie: I misremembered the ending! So the whole time, I thought I knew who did it but was still enjoying the ride, but then at the end I got that genuine surprise when Poirot revealed the solution. This remains one of my top Christies.
It‘s pictured on my newish treat to myself, this quilt from Signals.com with a colorful bookcase on it. ☺️
“Poirot said placidly, “One does not, you know, employ merely the muscles. I do not need to bend and measure the footprints and pick up the cigarette ends and examine the bent blades of grass. It is enough for me to sit back in my chair and think. It is this – ” he tapped his egg-shaped head – “this, that functions!”

From Dame Agatha Christie!
This dragged on in too many places for me to give it a pick. Not my favorite Christie.
#BooksYouReread #AllTheBooksof2017
Read Much Ado About Nothing with the delightful #ShakespeareReadAlong gang and The Secret History for the #readingenvyreadalong. Both were a blast and the discussions were fun and insightful . Reread the Christies for #maidensofmurder on Instagram, but as soon as I heard about Litsy's own #agathachristieclub I ditched the maidens faster than Hastings can figure out what Poirot is up to 😂 ❤️
Another enjoyable listen. I think I only have one more nursery rhyme themed mystery to go. A painter is poisoned, and his wife is convicted of the murder, but the daughter is unconvinced and goes to Poirot for help. This case is unusual as it is re-investigated 16 years after the crime. Poirot narrows down the suspects to “five little pigs.” I was sure I had this one figured out but I guessed wrong.
At the office, waiting for a client, trying to get some pages in. (Glad my coworker didn‘t come in while I was taking this pic in her room!)
I liked that all the facts, in the form of narratives, were laid out for you to solve yourself alongside Poirot. Makes it a unique read. Not in my top five of her books but still quite good. And as usual, I was once again deceived into believing I knew who was the killer only for Dame Agatha to pull another one on me. Sneaky sneaky 😉
It's my birthday in just a few hours! Reading this Dame Agatha book to greet my day with what is hopefully a nice read 😊
This one is when Poirot investigates a murder that happened sixteen years ago!

How awesome to read a Christie I never ever read before! A really good one too with a great twist. I'm escaping a bit at the moment...
