First, the synopsis promises more than the book actually delivers. Second, labeling book as “dystopian” is bad marketing. What happens in the book is currently happening today, in America. THE FARM would have been a powerful book on class and greed within our society if it lived up to its synopsis and focused on the marginalized community instead of reading as a cloak for the wealthy.

An exquisite story from beginning to end. Whether searching for the perfect light to photograph or perfect life to live, we are all searching for something. I love that THE AGE OF LIGHT ended with a sense of self acceptance over a fairy tale, perfect ending. Beautifully written and highly recommend.

The main story was good but overshadowed by too much over-the-top stuff going on. The characters and subplots became unbelievable and distracting.

“In spite of everything, Maggie has managed to turn out all right. She is a mother of three children- all of them here tonight in the house she loves so much; she is a wife, a lover of seeds and language, a French woman with English blood, an English woman with French blood. She is neither fully one thing nor another, as she‘s always wanted to be. She is arrogant and humble, audacious and timid, alive. She is still growing and always will be.”
