J. Courtney Sullivans Maine meets the works of Elin Hilderbrand in this delicious summer read involving three strangers, one island, and a season packed with unexpected romance, well-meaning lies, and damaging secrets. Anthony Puckett was a rising literary star. The son of an uber-famous thriller writer, Anthonys debut novel spent two years on the bestseller list and won the adoration of critics. But something went very wrong with his second work. Now Anthonys borrowing an old colleges friends crumbling beach house on Block Island in the hopes that solitude will help him get back to the person he used to be. Joy Sousa owns and runs Block Islands beloved whoopie pie caf. She came to this quiet space eleven years ago, newly divorced and with a young daughter, and built a life for them here. To her customers and friends, Joy is a model of independence, hard-working and happy. And mostly she is. But this summer shes thrown off balance. A food truck from a famous New York City brand is roving around the island, selling goodiesand threatening her business. Lu Trusdale is spending the summer on her in-laws dime, living on Block Island with her two young sons while her surgeon husband commutes to the mainland hospital. When Lus second son was born, she and her husband made a deal: hed work and shed quit her corporate law job to stay home with the boys. But a few years ago, Lu quietly began working on a private project that has becoming increasingly demanding on her time. Torn between her work and home, shes beginning to question that deal she made. Over the twelve short weeks of summer, these three strangers will meet and grow close, will share secrets and bury lies. And as the promise of June turns into the chilly nights of August, the truth will come out, forcing each of them to decide what they value most, and what they are willing to give up to keep it.

1. I‘d like to get to Sardinia or Sicily or both to eat all of the local fare.
2. I would take low brain space investment beach reads so I could focus on relaxing. 🏝

Two Truths: Sherri Griffin and her daughter Katie are new to a beach town in Massachusetts. YouTuber Alexa starts babysitting Katie, even though she is eleven.

One Lie: While SG really is Sherri Griffin‘s initials, Sherri Griffin is NOT her name.

Loved the Mom Squad who will definitely remind you of the characters in Big Little Lies. Overall this book was just a FUN listen and I really enjoyed learning about each of the people in this beach town

MsMelissa I think I might have this book 🤔 4y

I‘ve been doing better at reading lately but dropping the ball on reviews. This was good for what it was, a story of people bringing all their baggage and secrets to Block Island for the summer. I enjoyed getting to know the island which is a character itself and seeing how everyone reacted when the secrets bubbled to the surface. Points off for a sudden storm as a lazy way to drive the story to its climax, but a good summer read nonetheless.

Trying to read a summery book during the summer, like people do. I‘ve always been more of a “read a deep, dark gigantic tome” kind of summer reader, but there‘s a first time for everything, right? 🤔

Here's your Labor Day weekend last days of summer beach read. Told in rotating POVs from three people on Block Island, RI (background pic is one I took on the island in winter several years ago.) I didn't feel like the author needed to keep us readers in suspense about one character's secret as it really isn't a thriller or anything, but I liked the peek into life on this isolated island.

You will see the interaction of daily life Block Island residents with island summer visitors. Three different families will be involved during a summer season revealing some family secrets. What I liked is that there is representation of different generations and you will get interested in each one of them. It is a slow pace family drama with a sad twisted secret at the end for one of the families. I enjoyed it. 3.7⭐️

I‘m not on an island, but I am reading on the front porch in my pajamas in the rain, and that makes me pretty darn happy.

I was quickly addicted to this story. It‘s a lovely summer read full of compelling characters. It also helped that it was set on Block Island, which I visited a few times while growing up in Connecticut.

Laughterhp I love Block Island. I may have to stack this! 5y

I‘m so excited to say that I loved this even more than I anticipated. Three random people on Block Island, RI end up making connections in unexpected ways. At the same time, there are BIG secrets being kept and much is at stake if the truth comes out. I LOVE this as a summer read.

I was ALL IN early in the reading. I saw myself in each of these characters at least a little bit. If you like Elin Hilderbrand: this reminded me fondly of her style!

This book was a great summer read for me, hitting on all of my love languages-books set on charming islands with a foodie & writer focus. Three people meet in the summer on Block Island, RI; whoopie pie cafe owner Joy, disgraced author Anthony & secret food blogger Lu. I enjoyed all the characters & their stories & paired my review with Lu's Essence-of-Summer Fruit Crisp with strawberries, peaches & blueberries. Link to book tour review/recipe👇🏻

#WanderingJune
The last time we used this musical prompt I picked tropical Kauai as #laislabonita or my beautiful island, but since I'm doing a book tour review on this one tomorrow, I thought I'd choose its setting of Block Island. A real-life community just south of mainland Rhode Island, it looks & sounds like a perfect spot to spend a summer. ☀️⛵️🛥

A hot & humid weekend so I made a chilled soup & salad combo for today's lunch & #soupersundays blog post. I combined Giada's Orange-Scented Chilled Tomato Soup with Ina's Tomato Sandwich with Basil Mayo. It was a tasty pairing. 🍊🍲🍅🍞🌱Paired with one of my current reads for a book tour review later in the week. I'm about 1/3 into it & enjoying it so far. Lots of 😋food including a whoopie pie cafe & a secret food blogger.
