Birth-O-WeenTober with two writers who give that slight creepy feeling when you're alone at night and there's a noise! Poe was just made for dark, "we loved with a love that was more than love." Made a special pic for occasion!!!

Mein Kampf | Adolf Hitler
Panpan

I can't say this book was anything better than horrible due to the very nature of the evil Adolf Hitler was. Genius? Yes, but truth is it take a moment to decide to even add the book. In the nature of lit. , this is a part of history and at the core of the fight of the very bookban that's being fought against now.

So I read this insane autobiography when I was 9, maybe 10-ish. Definitely a mature read but what an amazing and tragic life for one person. I'm not much of an autobiography person but this is one of few I would indeed suggest reading.

When Ray Bradbury wrote Fahrenheit 451 in 1953, he was experiencing the television frenzy, he saw a Cold War era world that was now fascinated by a big box with pictures and tuning into the black and white shows after dinner rather than enjoying the pages of a good book. Even as Harold Bloom stated in his Introductory to Ray Bradbury‘s Fahrenheit 451 “In the Age of Information, how many will read Shakespeare or Dante? LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK

Why Read the Classics? | Italo Calvino
post image

Because this is where the harshness of reality took rest and the imagination was left to wander freely without hesitation or limitations. From the Odyssey to Dracula to Jane Eyre and Sherlock Holmes; you fell in love and found courage, your heart was broken and then you were newly mended. Anything was possible and fear was conquered if you just believed in yourself. For some, these words offered hope in desperation.

This is a an American classic and absolute must read! The thought that kids today or in the future may never read this is so disturbing!

Tattoo on my left ribs is one of my most favorite quotes, by Horace "Sapere Aude Incipe". There are many translations but it can be best broken down to, Sapere aude challenges us to fully experience the process of discovery and to be passionate about it. Courage to know! Dare to think! Horace was a not only a Roman poet but a Warrior all in the same. His words bare as valuable today as they were thousands of years ago.

Nothing short of amazing. No matter how many times I pick up this book, I feel the heartbeat of each quickened word through a maze of mysteries. 25 year reader and counting, #poefanforlife
