A dark and magical read for both young and adult readers

Come just over half of the book, the pace and story-telling began to shift, and it was just difficult to get through it because it felt clunky, and as if the author didn‘t know where to take the story and characters from there into the end At times it couldn‘t keep me engaged so it took me a while to read through the entire book. While that was the only downfall, I did really enjoy this suspenseful, haunting novel.

I typically do not read YA, especially YA mystery/thriller, but The Telling is exceptional. It is a book that will be hard to put down, and in between reading you will be talking about it to anyone willing to listen.

The one book I keep talking about nonstop to anyone who will listen. It‘s not every day you read a book where a husband conjures the Devil, and accidentally sells his wife, which results in planning a rescue mission to Hell. A variety of personas come along for the quest, and a whole lot of over-the-top encounters happen along the way that will have you laughing out loud. It is an absurd, action-packed, and witty read that is brilliantly written.

This novel is Erin Morgenstern‘s first novel, and it is exceptional. I have read numerous books in the magic genre, but none have come to life like The Night Circus. The imagery is brilliant and beautiful, and the characters complete the novel, each in their own way. I would have liked to read more dialogue between the characters, but regardless, The Night Circus was elaborate, extraordinary, and not like any other novel I have read before.

This book is so (positively) overwhelming, thought-provoking, and made me feel so small the further along. No matter how much you thought you possibly had figured out, another mind-boggling twist came along.

When I finished, I had to take some time to process my own thoughts because it was an action-packed story that tugged at the heartstrings. This book was an adrenaline rush equally mind-blowing and terrifying.
