I loved this book. I love books that evoke deep emotions and emotional reactions. I love books that give me a perspective unfamiliar to me. I felt deeply, learned so much, and really did not want to let this book go. I returned it to my public library today and I want everyone to check it out!

Bluest Eye | Toni Morrison

Pickpick

The Bluest Eye is back on the shelf. I really really liked it. I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads. I loved the writing, the prose...the way Morrison used language to create time, space, atmosphere and cultural experience for the reader. I admired the way she weaved anger and the effects of anger on the human spirit. It feel heart crushingly real to me. I am so glad to have read it. I give it my love, respect, and admiration. 👍👍⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Bluest Eye | Toni Morrison
post image

I came home from the library with these two books in hand. A friend hated Morrison's The Bluest Eye and her hate for the book has propelled me to read it so we can talk about it. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian will be the book I read as dessert after The Bluest Eye. I have to reward my sensitive soul with books that provide good doses of humor and spirit. I am looking forward to the next two weeks with these books.

Pickpick

I finished There There by Tommy Orange on audio yesterday. It is the kind of book I am looking forward to re-reading and want to acquire a hardback and keep as a favorite in my collection. It definitely lands on my Top 5 books that I have read this year, so far.

#WITMonth:. Reading Wistawa Szymborska's Poems New and Collected. This quote is from her poem titled "Classifieds". I also really loved "Buffo" and just about every poem in this collection.

My travel stack... bookworm problem: over packing books because I just can't decide or predict my future moods... But library book is a no brainer.

RaimeyGallant Looks like a nice stack. And welcome to Litsy! #LitsyWelcomeWagon Some of us put together Litsy tips to help new Littens navigate the site. It's the link in my bio on my page in case you need it. Or if you prefer how-to videos, @chelleo put some together at the link in her bio. @LitsyWelcomeWagon 6y

jmofo Welcome! I pack in advance and do not pack books or journals until the night before, trying to keep to one of each, as I always seek out book shops on my trips. 😬 6y
