This is one of the most well-written books I have ever read. Everything from the style to the story was perfect. This is the sort of book you'll want to buy multiple copies of to hand out to everyone you meet.

Absolutely loved this book! I couldn't put it down. Hepola's writing is incredible, and her honesty and frankness is refreshing. She doesn't tiptoe around anything, and it was phenomenal. 10/10 would recommend; I couldn't put it down.
"Young, educated, and drunk: That was life on the ground for me." As a rising college senior I feel this sentiment in my soul.
"I just want every girl to go to school."
"Simply by recounting their stories and breaking that silence, survivors of sexual assault strike a powerful blow against their assailants...This collective fortitude touches all victims, even those too fearful to speak for themselves, by eradicating the undeserved sense of shame..."
"Francie was ten years old when she first found an outlet in writing. What she wrote was of little consequence. What was important was that the attempt to write stories kept her straight on the dividing line between truth and fiction."
"Sometimes when you had nothing at all and it was raining and you were alone in the flat, it was wonderful to know that you could have something even though it was only a cup of black and bitter coffee." ☕️
This is high on my list of "Books that Changed My Life." Infinite stars, there aren't numbers high enough to rate this. I love Jenny Lawson, and this book made me feel so much less alone in the world. Everyone needs to read it; you'll laugh, cry, and fall in love. Best book I've read in a long time.
I had such high expectations for this book, and I was rather unfortunately disappointed. I liked it at first but it got repetitive and overall I feel like the story went nowhere. 5.5/10, probably wouldn't read again.
"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." Happy 91st birthday to one of my favorite books ?
