No no no. Just no. Child abuse, incest, rape, at home amputations, gun obsessions, murder. Just no. The synopsis posted here mentions none of those things and I was wholly unprepared. Never would have read it had I known.

I loved this book. Beyond being set in a hockey town (which I love), the characters were all compelling and the storyline was gripping but authentic. Definitely recommend!

I just finished this and I‘m not sure I have the words just yet to describe it. It describes parallel storylines of Joe Biden the VP and Joe Biden the father with a terminally ill son. He has faced so much heartbreak and tragedy in his life but maintains a genuine, empathetic, resilient, and steadfast character and desire to help others. All of that comes through in this book. Read with tissues.

I had the audiobook and while I normally hate audiobooks, I loved hearing Dan Rather‘s instantly recognizable voice reading his words. This book is insightful, sentimental, powerful, and eye-opening in relating Dan‘s decades of journalistic experience to today‘s events. My only complaint is that my loan expired 20 minutes from the end of the book!!! 😭

Mehso-so

The mystery-within-a-mystery premise was intriguing and it did remind me of an Agatha Christie, but I still found it boring and kept checking the percentage on my Kindle. If I were less stubborn about finishing books, I probably would have bailed.

JulieAnn I felt the same way. Parts would keep me interested, then I‘d get bored again. 6y

I never write reviews but I was so disappointed by this book that I had to try to protect others by writing one. I LOVED The Martian. It was smart and sarcastic and fun to read. This book was boring and not at all funny. I disliked the main character immensely.

swishandflick Bummer! Welcome to Litsy, though 😄🎉 6y
