This book was phenomenal. It‘s a story about 3 kids living with their abusive mother, and it really dives deep into people living in that sort of a situation. The story is told by Matthew, one of the kids, and it goes back and forth from the past with them living in an abusive household, and current times, where Matthew is telling his little sister Emmy, who was too young, what happened to him. Very thought provoking and eye opening.

I picked up this book at my school library and finished it in a day and a half. It is set in multiple Londons, White London, Gray London, Red London and the secret Black London. However, only certain people like our main character, Kell can travel between these worlds. I loved how different each “London” is and how this book really draws you into the world. Would recommend to anyone who loves a good fantasy novel.

Review: I really enjoyed this book! The characters were very well written and I loved how the bookshop itself was a character (a very bossy one) Overall this book had an interesting plot and it had amazing characters (including a very angry cat named Hell Cat)

Synopsis: Leah Westfall can sense gold around her, veins of it. When her family is ripped away from her, she sets out to California where gold has been recently discovered.
Review: Overall, I️ thought that this book was pretty good. The beginning was very captivating. However it wasn‘t one of those books that you can‘t put down, it took me a week to finish it. I️ felt that some parts were unrealistic and dramatic. However, It is worth a read.
