These books are awesome!

Once again, another great adventure for Royce and Hadrian. Sullivan does such a great job of creating believable characters. The way that cultural and political strife is woven into the story is done very well. I love the humorous love/hate relationship between Royce and Hadrian. Even if you have not read any of the other books, Winter‘s Daughter is a solid read on its own. I definitely recommend, not just this book, but the whole series.

This book is a continuation in the Legends of the First Empir The story has action adventure, manipulation, and romance. What more can you ask for? I really like how the women (young and old) were the ones with all the brains, and they saved the day. There was also a bit of intrigue at the end, which definitely sets the stage for the next book. This book has action, intrigue, and humor. I am looking forward to the next one in the series.

This was a really cool book. A book where books come to life. The story was part adventure, part science fiction, and part mystery. Thursday Next, is great. She‘s not helpless, whiny, or bitchy. She is the perfect character to solve the mystery of stolen characters from classic stories. There were a few spots where I had some questions about certain characters (like Thursday‘s father). Overall the story flowed well and held my attention.

Lately, all I do is work, work, work.... gonna try and catch up on reading and book reviews! 😏

Should be reading, but... Binge watching Stranger Things!

My TBR stack seems to be growing!

While not as scary as the first time I read it (in high school), it is still a very creepy story. King is great at writing suspense. He manages to make you feel like you are in the scene. Or that the vampire is outside your window. This book is definitely reminiscent of the original Dracula story, with a modern twist. If you like vampire books, or just a good scary story, I definitely recommend this one.

Well, that was disappointing. I‘m pretty sure I read this book in high school, but did not really remember much about it. I understand the concept of the book, and how it represents certain societies. But, it was extremely boring and very predictable.

This was a great sci-fi adventure. I did the audio book and it was really good! Some strong language, but a great story.

Reading books on historical events is not something that I am normally drawn to. That being said, the subject of this book sounded interesting, and thought I would try it. This book covers the raiding of the Congo in the 1800s. All this was done for both glory and profit by white men, led by King Leopold of Belgium. Hochschild does a good job in this book of telling the history in the form of a story, rather than just a list of dry facts.
