Jackson Hole was pleasant. Nothing more. Celine pointed out that an entire town bent on leisure and fun was very tiring.

I'm listening to this as an audiobook. I first read it 40 some years ago as a 10-year-old; I picked it up in Blackwell's bookstore in Oxford, England not knowing that it would become a bestseller and a classic. The audiobook is especially good because it is read by Ralph Cosham, the same voice who does the Louise Penny mysteries. His voice has the perfect amount of gravitas.
My problem with this book is the way it valorizes gun culture. If everyone read this book, they would not stock up on water and food but rather guns. Sigh. In other ways, it was a good post apocalyptic story with all the chaos one would expect.
"I'm all right, Bertie. Don't worry about me."
"Sometimes I do, Daddy. Sometimes I worry."
