Now this is more like it. Already 33% through and all I want are more chapters with Carswell Thorne.

It pains me but I'm bailing after several chapters. I don't always need Brandon Sanderson levels of rules, but I need some sort of frame of reference for how the magic works.

A few folks from the @bookriot insider's forum are reading this and I decided to get in on the fun. Even if it does have a werelion in it.

This keeps getting recommended to me when I say I like the Kushiel novels. Trying to keep my expectations in check because I LOVED the Kushiel books.

It's 106 miles to Des Moines. We've got a full tank of gas, a half charged Kindle, it's bright out, and we're wearing shades.

Been in a bit of a reading slump the last couple weeks and then I stumble across this book at my local library. You've got a drug-addicted former cop trying to make ends meet as a PI who, while robbing a drug house to resupply his own stash, stumbles upon a kidnapped teenage girl.

This story didn't take its foot off the gas for a second and it was a wild, enjoyable ride. Highly recommended.
