The Lazarus Gate
The Lazarus Gate: Lazarus Gate 1 | Mark Latham
8 posts | 3 read | 5 to read
London, 1890. Captain John Hardwick, an embittered army veteran and opium addict, is released from captivity in Burma and returns home, only to be recruited by a mysterious gentlemens club to combat a supernatural threat to the British Empire. This is the tale of a secret war between parallel universes, between reality and the supernatural; a war waged relentlessly by an elite group of agents; unsung heroes, whose efforts can never be acknowledged, but by whose sacrifice we are all kept safe.

#TBRPile 📚 “The sound of the explosion had barely stopped ringing in the sergeant‘s ears when he snatched a glimpse of the thin man once again, vanishing around the corner.”

Pickpick

Entertaining fantasy adventure, that starts out as a simple investigation of terrorist in Victorian London, then spirals into a wild story of cross dimensional invasion, with mediums, doppelgangers, demons and lots of battles. It's pretty obvious who the chief bad guy is, given the mc's history, but that doesn't take away from the overall enjoyment of the story. 4 💥💥💥💥

• Let's get real here, I'm a shamefaced hussy because I've fallen so far behind on my review schedule. I feel shameful because uni starts back in less than three weeks and I need to get caught up with my schedule in that time to make reviewing work alongside uni🙈 So, sincere apologies to all. My schedule has gone to pot but I'm working on it. 🍂#book #booklover #bookstagram #bookblogger #bibliophile #met_createchange

A decent read but at times a little too confusing with all of the plot twists.
