#TopReads2025 for May goes to 2 favorite books that I couldn‘t decide which one I loved more, so they both are picked! “Big Bad Wool” by Leonie Swann and “Dungeon Crawler Carl” by Matt Dinniman are quite possibly as opposite as you can get but were both fun! One has talking sheep who solve a murder, the other has a talking cat surviving a Hunger Games-esque quest with her boxer wearing bodyguard. I‘d highly recommend both!! 🐑🔎🐈👑
repost for @AsYouWish:
Congrats everyone who finished all the words in May or any words because you got books off your TBRs! Remember this is all year long, so words can be completed at any time!
2025 Theme: my favorite movies!
Now who is ready to figure out June‘s #WickedWords Movie?

Feel free to guess, I will reveal at the end of the month!
Catching up in the Karen Pirie series, which I really enjoy. This one finds Karen and her team trying to investigate a case during the 2020 pandemic lockdowns. It has a book with a book element too. You can‘t ever tell how everything is going to come together in the end, which works for me in a crime novel.
I wasn‘t expecting to read this in May, but it became available after having been hard to find for months. So I read it in three days! It would have been two, but I was tired after a long day.
This is the seventh book in a series I started reading years ago for #whodunnitbymail back in the day. Thanks to @PatriciaU for suggesting that first book!
While this series has the “bones” to continue, I got strong conclusion vibes.

The fifth outing for the team of Detective Sergeant Washington Poe & civilian analyst, Tilly Bradshaw sees them tackle two puzzling cases. A poisoner is running amok, seemingly able to get to his victims even if they are under police protection, & for his fourth victim he uses the might of social media to get the public to vote on who he kills next. (continued)
Dahlia Lively is a Miss Marple-type character in a popular detective series. Rosalind King (60s) played the original Dahlia in the movies. Caro Hopper (40s) played Dahlia on the TV series. Posy Starling, child star, now grown up, plays Dahlia in the latest film. They should be rivals. But.
Instead, these three actresses who all have skeletons in their pasts, become unlikely friends, and team up to solve mysteries. 3rd book in this cozy series.
This completely delightful book finds a group of sheep in France with their shepherdess when a deer is found horrifically killed in the woods. The sheep try to solve the mystery while protecting their own flock. It‘s so cute and fun, and the translator really did a marvelous job.
Themes: Sleuthing Sheep‘s, Fun characters and great storytelling
This was Book 2 in the “Sheep Detective” series and it was just as great as Book 1 (“Three Bags Full”). I love this series, and I hope there‘s more from Miss Maple, Mopple the Whale, Sir Ritchfield, and Heather too!
