A useful asset if you are planning to travel to Japan. If I had to add some additional advice it would be:
• get a Suica card
• google maps in public transport mode is your friend
• the HYPERDIA app is very useful if you are using a Japan Rail Pass
• cash is king in Japan

erzascarletbookgasm Good tips. Another great shot! 6y
iread2much And the green rail pass is totally worth the money, esp if you will be traveling with luggage. 6y

Final preparations for my trip to Japan in two weeks. So much still to be done.

Libby1 Wonderful! Have a lovely time. Have you read any Japanese books in preparation for the trip? Where will you visit? I spent 3 weeks there in 2005 visiting Tokyo, Yokohama, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Miyajima. 6y
erzascarletbookgasm Which part of Japan will you be visiting? 6y
Oblomov26 @erzascarletbookgasm @Libby1 will be there for two weeks. Have a weeks accomodation booked in Tokyo - second week have a Rail Pass and no fixed plans as yet. Thinking Osaka and Kyoto, possibly Hiroshima as well 6y

erzascarletbookgasm Osaka and Kyoto are fantastic choices. I haven‘t been to Hiroshima but with the Rail Pass, Nara and Kobe are easily reachable too. Have fun and post pics! 6y

Just rediscovered the guide books I bought when I moved to Japan a decade ago 😀 I still prefer travel guides with pages you can touch despite their weight and ability to get dated. I tried an e-version of the lonely planet southwest usa guide but couldn't handle digital bookmarks 😂 plus I still love these covers. #mommyreads #travel #guidebook #japan

Thought I'd share this with you. The Book and Bed hostel in Tokyo, where I spent my last night in Japan during my trip. Sleeping inside a bookshelf, books everywhere, comfortable sofas all along the wall, view over the city from the 7th floor and like-minded people. It was a perfect last evening 😃

Dragon That's so fun ! 8y
elkeOriginal I read about this - looks amazing! 8y

I'm going on an adventure! Finalizing my plans on the train to the airport. I can't wait. Will visit bookstores in Tokyo and Kyoto too, of course ;) #japan #solotravels

Dragon Have fun! 8y
Katerina Thank you @Dragon I'm sure I will ☺👘 8y
Serotonin Be sure to visit Animate in Tokyo - Akihabara area I think. It's THE bookstore for manga enthusiast and otaku 😆 Sadly, I can't read Japanese 😢 8y

Katerina I'll post a picture, if I make it there, @Serotonin . I can read Japanese, but my knowledge of Kanji is still sorely lacking. I need to study more 😆 8y
SpecsyBeast Day&Night Infinity Books is one of the best little bookstores I've ever been in. Most of the books are in English and the guy who works there is pretty cool 8y
tpixie Have an awesome trip!! So exciting!! 8y
