She's a countess and a spy. How cool is that?!

Another #NakedHardcover just because it's so pretty
#Riotgrams day 3: #Nakedhardcovers
I just think it's pretty neat that they have the characters' signatures on the cover.
Catch up! #Riotgrams day 2: #CurrentRead
So amazing so far. However the math parts are pretty difficult for me.
#Riotgrams Day 1: #Shelfie Long time no post. My life has been so very busy lately but one cool thing is that I built a bookshelf! I had help but I did it!! (It's just the shelf on the left) #INeedMoreBooks
Apparently you get a signed book for every bone you break.
My #Thanksgiving misadventures in Germany. I found what I think was my first #LittleFreeLibrary (Pardon the picture. I had to take this from a moving vehicle)
Two broken bones + bed rest = lots of time to read
Three continents in about a month and a half. My life has been so crazy. But now that I'm mostly settled into my cozy German village I finally found the time to read this fantastic book and download Litsy!
Just sold my motorcycle. 😥 I'm going to miss all our little adventures here.

Decided to give this a reread after seeing the new movie trailer.
#Riotgrams Day 27: #RetroCoverFun
In honor of #20yearsofHarryPotter here's an old school, Japanese copy of the Philosopher's Stone. @bookriot
#Riotgrams Day 22: #CurrentRead
So far, so good.

#Riotgrams Day 20: #Celestial #Solstice
Cute but lacks Groot.
#Riotgrams Day 18: #BookThatMadeYouCry
Bridge to Terabithia was the first book, that I remember, thatmade me cry. I think I was about 10 or 11.
#Riotgrams Day 16 #SetNearWhereYouLive
I grew up between the settings of Edgar Sawtelle and Anatomy of a Murder. So here's an old picture of our main street. Looks the same but more pickup trucks and in color.
#Riotgrams Day: 15 #FavoriteTwist
Shutter Island is a bit of an obvious answer, but I love a book that makes me question my perception of reality. @bookriot
I love how the main characters queerness isn't sensationalized as a main plot point and they're not "gal pals". It's a part of the characters and kind of the plot without being the entire theme. The story lines had some amazing twists that had me shook, but some of the twists left me a bit confused and seemed to lack some cohesiveness. It was a great book, but I think it could have been pulled together a little better. #queerbooks #lgbtq
#Riotgrams Day 6: #NumberTitles
I may be a bit too literal with this one. I apologise for the state of this book, but it was my big brother's copy so I had to perform scotch tape surgery to save it. @bookriot
#Riotgrams Day 5: #SomethingMagical
I feel like it's a bit of a cliche, but I just got back from visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Osaka and it was beautiful. I may have teared up a little. I bought Hermione's wand from Ollivander's, but I picked up the Japanese copies of the Philosopher's Stone and the Prisoner of Azkaban at a thrift shop. @bookriot
#Riotgrams Day 4: #Notebooks #Journals
Junie B. Jones Top-Secret Personal Beeswax. I wrote in it when I was "8 yeres old". It's alot of fun to look back on as a 21 year old. @bookriot
Also #HowIRead I was obviously reading past my bedtime, because I'm fast asleep. But yeah I like to cinnamon bun in my comfy chair and put on some music. Cups of cocoa are also very common. #HowYouRead @bookriot
@bookriot #Riotgrams Day 3: #HowYouRead
I crack spines. Some people say it's a terrible thing to do to books, but to me it just means they're well loved. A few of my favorite paperbacks are only kept together with scotch tape. I'd much rather they be covered with cracks and wrinkles than collect dust.
#Riotgrams Day 2: #yellowcovers
"It's 10 o'clock at night and we haven't been home in a week. Are you just now rearranging your bookshelf?!"
Me: "...kinda.... But it's for @bookriot !!"
This was a pretty neat idea. Dracula as Prince Consort to Queen Victoria. I really like the juxtaposition of historical and literary figures. It was a bit of nice reading before I leave on vacation. And I'll read almost anything that has, "From the sick and depraved mind of" on the cover.
1. Born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
2. For sentimental reasons, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
3. I used to love fantasy series like Harry Potter, Redwall, Infernal Devices, etc.
4. Any musical pretty much.
5. Orphan Black
6. Queen
7. Orange
8. I'll read a bit of anything but old favorites are either historical nonfiction or old French guys.
9. Studied at NMU. Will continue studies in Germany.
10. Yes. A mutt named Roscoe.
I haven't read too many murder mysteries and I've never read any Agatha Christie, so this was my first time meeting Hercule Poirot. The scheme seemed convoluted and I'm not entirely satisfied with how it came together. That being said I'm glad the narrator was as exasperated with Poirot's pedantic and boastful nature as I was at times. But Dame Christie obviously has a gift for characters and plot so I'd like to read more of her.
#BookHaul I love my thrift shop. You can fill up a plastic bag full of books for a dollar, much to the detriment of my available self space. This is this afternoon's haul, but a few months ago I was lucky enough to find a Bloomsbury 1st edition of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. And I also desperately need a better quality camera phone.
"'To the things themselves!' Don't waste time on the interpretations that accrue upon things, and especially don't waste time wondering whether the things are real. Just look at this that's presenting itself to you, whatever this may be, and describe it as precisely as possible."
Nothing sets the mood for reading about a NYC socialite like the great outdoors, right? #OffroadReading
It's been a while since I read the book, but I liked it. It was a provocative story told in a unique way. However I have some problems with the Netflix show. But of course #NeverJudgeABookByItsOnScreenAdaptation
So this is pretty cool. It's a fantastic Gothic novella and vampire story. It has alot of the over used vampire cliches, but it was written almost 30 years before Dracula so it was more original back then. There's an audiobook read by David Tennant (Dr. Who) and Rose Leslie (GoT). I'm also personally obsessed with the webseries it inspired. It's a modern day retelling told mostly in vlog format that's been rehashed to be alot more LGBTQ+ friendly
#Riotgrams Day 24: #RainbowBookStack #pretty
#Riotgrams Day 23: #Funnybooks This was a hoot. It's like getting drunk and telling everyone at the bar about myths.
#Riotgrams Day 21: #CoolSpines Cthulhu is cool, but the real horror story is Lovecraft's prejudice.
#Riotgrams Day 20: #FavoriteCover Poor camera quality and curious #hound aside, I really enjoyed this book and I'm SO glad to see it other people I follow on here enjoy it as well. I know the author and she's a delightful woman so I'm glad to see her work doing so well. #Dogsandbooks
#Riotgrams Day 19: #GreatDedication Bo Burnham is adorable. This poetry book is definitely one of the best birthday presents I've ever gotten. It's so stinking cute!
#Riotgrams Day 18: #SomethingPretty Pretty isn't really my aesthetic, but dragons are really cool
#Riotgrams Day 17: #Freebie Here's a book I got for free. I loved the movie so I'm really looking forward to reading the book.
So I've fallen a little behind on this but here they are. #Riotgrams Day 16: #Bookmarks Well to be honest, I don't actually use bookmarks. But the ones I do have are really pretty. Also this book was delightful.
#Riotgrams Day 15: #BooksandTreats I suck at taking pictures but I'm real good at making hot chocolate.
