Dear Theo
Dear Theo: The Autobiography of Vincent Van Gogh | Irving Stone, Jean Stone
Van Gogh's brother Theo was his confidant and companion, and, in his letters to him, Van Gogh reveals himself as artist and man. Even more than if he had purposely intended to tell his life story, Van Gogh's letters lay bare his deepest feelings, as well as his everyday concerns and his views of the world of art.

“Many people seem to think it foolish, even #superstitious, to believe that the world could still change for the better. And it is true that in winter it is sometimes so bitingly cold that one is tempted to say, ‘What do I care if there is a summer; its warmth is no help to me now.‘ Yes, evil often seems to surpass good. But then, in spite of us, and without our permission, there comes at last an end to the bitter frosts. ⬇️

TK-421 One morning the wind turns, and there is a thaw. And so I must still have hope.” ― Vincent van Gogh (quote may not be from tagged book) 3y

Two books #aboutanartist that I‘ve wanted to read for a long time but haven‘t got around to yet. I‘m likely going to have a lot of spare time soon so maybe this is the year I finally read them? #MagnificentMarch

...and then, I have nature and art and poetry, and if that is not enough, what is enough?

Wheeeee! I haven't been able to afford many (any) books last year so now that I can afford a few I finally got my own copy of Middlemarch😍😍😍, van Gogh's letters, and... yeah... too many books, macaroni for dinner. But at least I get to read great books while eating it!🤗🤔😒

After finishing this book I unexpectedly found myself with my face in my hands, sobbing as if for a loved one. It felt as though I were reading about a close friend's suicide and not someone from centuries ago whom I've never met. Though I do think he and I could have been friends in another history. I feel that he understood me on a level no one else could. It's a very slow read but well worth it for any lover of art or life in any of its forms

#BookNDinner! @MrBook and I had a hankering for burgers, so off to our favorite local pub we went. Mine is the "Rodeo Burger": a juicy Black Angus beef burger topped with an onion ring filled with chili and cheddar jack cheese, alongside beer battered fries and a rum & Coke. ? After the awesomeness of Lust for Life, I needed more Van Gogh goodness, so now I'm following it with Dear Theo. Happy reads and happy eats!
