My love of Sondheim began during the lockdown of 2020. I listened to most of his albums. Around October 2021 I added this to my Christmas list. On November 26, 2021, the world lost a giant. The fact that this is only the first part is uh, really keeping me going in 2022. I can‘t wait to finish the next part.

RIP, Stephen Sondheim. 😥 He was an amazing talent.

AmyG So sad. He was extraordinary. 2y
mom2bugnbee We are gutted at my house. I bought the books of his lyrics for my daughter for Christmas before his passing - that gift will be even more special now. 2y
Lcsmcat @mom2bugnbee Same. I have both his books after going to hear him speak on his writing process. He was very funny and engaging in person as well as in his music. 2y

"Mr. Sondheim! Look, I made a hat! Where there never was a hat! It's a Latin hat, at that!"

Who didn't love Lin's shout-out to Sondheim when he won his first Tony in '08? Check out the speech if you haven't, and don't miss the tagged book of Sondheim's lyrics, complete with comments, notes, and anecdotes. It's a must-have for musical theatre fans! #TheHat #LilithJuly #LinManuelMiranda #seemoretheatre

I started a band and I've been trying my hand at writing lyrics. So far it's actually going rather well.

OK, for today's actual prompt, #tonightTonight, Sondheim wrote the lyrics and hated the line "today the world was just an address" in this song that became so popular. #90sinJuly @Robothugs @Cinfhen

Sydsavvy Oh I have that book! Greatness. 7y
Cinfhen I'm always curious about the story behind the song/lyrics 7y

Awesome night out at the theater to see this cast in Sunday in the Park with George! It was so cathartic and therapeutic - I've really been struggling with my own art and this was profoundly moving. If you like making art, if you like creating, this show, with any cast, is for you!

ApoptyGina69 I saw this in New York in 1984 with Mandy Patinkin. I've loved it ever since. 8y
