How to Make a Zombie
How to Make a Zombie: The Real Life (and Death) Science of Reanimation and Mind Control | Frank Swain
1 post | 1 read | 2 to read
Join a notorious pop science punk as he investigates real zombie reports from around the world. The search for the means to control the bodies and minds of our fellow humans has been underway for millennia, from the sleep-inducing honeycombs that felled Pompey’s army to the Voodoo potions of Haiti. Now, Frank Swain, the force behind Science Punk, has joined the quest, digging up genuine zombie research: • dog heads brought back to life without their bodies • secret agents dosing targets with zombie drugs • parasites that push their hosts to suicide or sex changes • the elixir of life hidden in an eighteenth-century painting This mind-bending and entertaining excavation of incredible science is unlike anything you’ve read before.

I bought this along with The Science of Zombies for my partner. I hoped the promise of zombies would get him reading (he is more of a gamer). This disappeared during our moving in together though so neither of us had chance to read this. Despite that it is still on my #tbr

This book discusses various scientific experiments in subjects that most definitely fit the #madscientist #octphotochallenge

Sergei Brukhonenko continued below....

Bookworm54 Sergei Brukhonenko was a leader of experimental surgery, particularly relating to hearts and lungs, and performed the first soviet open heart operation. I am highlighting him as my #madscientist however as he was also known for his experiments of decapitating animals (mainly dogs) and attempting to put them on life support thus keeping the head alive for multiple hours... suitably creepy for #scaretober 😱 8y
