Literary_Siren Hmmmm weird. It‘s not in the series lineup with the rest of the books. Go the Distance is releasing April 6 and I found the release date for What Once Was Mine, it‘s September 7. 3y

5. In the original story of The Sleeping Beauty (by G. Basile), King Stephan isn't Aurora's father. He sneaks into an abandoned palace, finds her asleep and rapes her. She gets pregnant. When she wakes up, she falls in love with him. CREEPY & DISGUSTING 🤮 Most of the happy endings we know are not happy at all in the original non-Disney version.

DGRachel Yes, I like to pretend the “real” version of Sleeping Beauty does not exist. The Disney version is one of my favorite films. On the other hand, I much prefer the original The Little Mermaid where she turns to sea foam to the happily ever after Disney version. Go figure. 5y

darklydreaming I once took a general elective course on Stories (can‘t remember the official name haha) and it was surprising how many children‘s classics are morbid like that!! Little Red Riding Hood in particular 🤢 5y

SailorMoon @DGRachel @darklydreaming I know, many of those stories are sooo twisted!!! I don' know the one of Little Red Riding Hood though... I'll look it up!!! And as for The Little Mermaid... I love seeing her getting married with that hunk of Eric, but yes I also like the "real' version with her turning into foam! Nice ones, ladies ? 5y

hgrimes I love reading the original fairytales. They‘re always so weird and disturbing! For some reason, that‘s my literary preference. 5y
