"I discover, too, that grief is different things to different people. Comes in many guises...That a blank face or fleeting smile can hide the worst, most private kind of agony." - The Bones of You by Debbie Howells
THE BONES OF YOU
"The Bones of You revolves around a young girl‘s murder and one woman‘s obsession with uncovering the secrets in an idyllic English village."

free #bookhaul from a co-worker! she doesn‘t want these anymore so they have been adopted into my library 💙
This is a book that you can‘t put down once you have started, it‘s easy reading and a brilliant story from start to finish
Unfortunately, I could not warm to Howells' style of writing despite wanting to like this book. The story itself had promise but it simply wasn't enough to be an enjoyable read. The story got lost somewhere along the way and it was not realistic enough in comparison to other thriller/murder books I've read.
What I will say though, is that the book did keep me guessing right until the end. Overall disappointing but not the worst I suppose.
nettes Buch für zwischendurch, aber leider auch nicht mehr - schade
Ah I knew who did it almost from the beginning (which is highly unusual for me). The writing style was a bit off-putting as well. Interesting story though. Really shows how appearances can be truly deceiving.
Loved this book and that it is from the perspective of another mother. Really had me guessing who actually did it and I only realised who it was just before the reveal. Very well written
"That's when I know they've never lost someone. If they had, they'd understand. That you always miss them. That the pain doesn't go. That life stops."
I just couldn't get into the style of writing. It felt disjointed and the language was incredibly amateur.
