Storm Born

Just typical. No love life to speak of for months, then all at once, every horny creature in the Otherworld wants to get in your pants. . . Eugenie Markham is a powerful shaman who does a brisk trade banishing spirits and fey who cross into the mortal world. Mercenary, yes, but a girl's got to eat. Her most recent case, however, is enough to ruin her appetite. Hired to find a teenager who has been taken to the Otherworld, Eugenie comes face to face with a startling prophecy--one that uncovers dark secrets about her past and claims that Eugenie's first-born will threaten the future of the world as she knows it. Now Eugenie is a hot target for every ambitious demon and Otherworldy ne'er-do-well, and the ones who don't want to knock her up want her dead. Eugenie handles a Glock as smoothly as she wields a wand, but she needs some formidable allies for a job like this. She finds them in Dorian, a seductive fairy king with a taste for bondage, and Kiyo, a gorgeous shape-shifter who redefines animal attraction. But with enemies growing bolder and time running out, Eugenie realizes that the greatest danger is yet to come, and it lies in the dark powers that are stirring to life within her. . . Praise for Richelle Mead and Succubus Blues. . . "This is one of those series I'm going to keep following." --Jim Butcher, New York Times bestselling author "The mix of supernatural mystery, romance, and reluctant succubus is great fun." --Locus "Exciting, witty, sexy, intriguing and had me captivated from the first page." --Cheyenne McCray "Storm Born is my kind of book -- great characters, dark worlds, and just the right touch of humor. A great read." --Patricia Briggs

Pickpick

I enjoyed my reread of Storm Born. Sadly, though, I found Eugenie to grow more annoying as the story wore on instead of less. But this just means she has room to grow in the later series books. ;-)

I read this book on my phone, so I don't have a book picture. Instead, here is a picture of my reading buddy. :-)

Maude I agree, Eugenie didn't really grow as a character, the way I hoped she would. 7y
reader44ever @Maude Have you read all four (I think it's four?) books in this series? As I recall, it ends in a disappointing fashion, but I'm still looking forward to reading through to the end! I have book two out from the library. . . 7y
Maude I have read all of them and did enjoy the rest. I highly recommend reading them if you like the setting and secondary characters because a lot happens with that, I would of given this a much higher rating if Eugenie was a better written character. @reader44ever 7y
reader44ever @Maude Yeah, I'm curious as to how much I'll enjoy my reread of this series given that Eugenie annoyed me more and more as book one went on. First time I read it, she grew on me. It's weird how one's perceptions can change. 7y

I have a hard time rating this one. Ultimately, I think it's a pick but it took nearly a third of the book before I was really into it and I didn't love the ending. However, I know there are three more books in the series so I hope the things I had issues with will be addressed moving forward.

Rushing to finish this one before the due date (tomorrow!) so I am probably missing a lot of important little details :(

Quite possibly one of my favorite books by Richelle Mead.
