I grabbed this ARC at ALA because I've enjoyed Aiken's work. It's a great start to a new series that will appeal to fans of her dragon series (they are sort of connected) and to readers looking for a slow burn fantasy romance. #romantsy #paranormal #fantasy

I can't figure out how Robb can still be writing such consistently good books with such a long series. This was exactly what I expect from In Death books - well paced, interesting details and enough levity in dialogue to keep it from bogging down into depressing.

I got an ARC of this but it's really hard to review without spoilers! I will say, if you were angry/upset about Archangels Prophecy or didn't read it because of the reviews, clear your calendar and read them back to back. It's a pretty epic book. #romantsy #urbanfantasy

I read an ARC of this one and fans of the series will be very happy when it comes out. It's a look at what women deal with regularly and it moves the community, particularly Lindsay and Sully, forward. Plus they solve a murder of course.

I was really hoping the characters would even out in the second book but I think they might have been more uneven. I feel like I got whiplash from the dramatically swinging overreactions.

The plot of this was excellent - twisty and complex but not so convoluted it made no sense - but the characters were problematic at best. I'm going to read the second book to see if that's just a first book in a series issue.

A fun first book in a new series. I found the main character a little boring but the excellent secondary characters more than made up for it. I'll definitely be reading the second book. #CozyInTheSun #ILoveCozies #CozyMystery @Librarybelle @ferskner

A solid second book in this #historical #cozymystery series. I was a little worried that the super obvious suspect was going to be the murderer but Freeman managed to keep me in the dark almost to the very end.

I very much enjoyed Frances, George, Hettie, and Jenny as well as the new secondary characters. I was hoping that Lily would be better in this but she is actually worse than in the first book!

This was a fun historical mystery and was the first one I finished for #CozyInTheSun this month. I very much enjoyed many of the characters - except Lily who I didn't like at all. It was a solid mystery, good character development, and lovely setting imagery. I'm looking forward to reading the second book in the series.

Meglet Is it as helpfully informative as it sounds? I‘m intrigued! 6mo
melissanorr It's quite interesting @Meglet but I think reading it in paper might be a better idea than kindle. I'm trying to read it on kindle but it's a lot harder to see the maps and to refer back to them when I need to. 6mo
Meglet Ah, yes. That makes sense. Physical books are definitely still better in some situations. I remember writing a research paper where one of my references was in ebook form, and that was a struggle! 6mo

One of the reasons I loved this series in the beginning was that Gin accepted who and what she was and didn't let others make her feel bad about it. In some of the recent books, she seemed to have lost some of that but this book gets us back to the Gin I loved reading in the first place!

There was a little bit of a contrived feeling to this one - some of the characters actions seemed to be solely for the sake of creating conflict and didn't really make sense. However, it's a fast paced, interesting story and the introduction of a female werewolf was good. #romantsy

A good #cozymystery and a nice entry to the series. This one focuses a little more on Brooklyn and Derek with less of the large cast of secondary characters. The murder doesn't happen until well into the book but it is well done and there were some great red herrings to keep you guessing.
