Classes start today but I got one last book in yesterday! Overall, this was well-written and had a lot of interesting information. However, the early part of the book flips back and forth in time which is one of my pet peeves so I personally found that annoying.

Overall, this was a good narrative history for general readers. History buffs or those with academic level history backgrounds will likely find it less interesting. One caveat-I read an ARC version of this so I'm assuming the couple of factual errors were fixed in editing.

Got the pictured novella this week and am excited to read it. An over 50 romance is nearly impossible to find! But I couldn't tag this book for some reason so I tagged a different one by the same author. #romantsy

1. I unintentionally started a tradition that the first book I read each year is an ARC of the next Sebastian St Cyr mystery and I see no reason to stop the tradition.
2. My friends' wedding.
3. To give myself permission to DNF books I'm not into without feeling guilty.

1. The last nonfiction that I finished was Daughters of the Winter Queen and the last historical fiction was A Fiancees Guide to First Wives and Murder

2. Both thumbs up

3. I tend to binge read mystery, romance, urban fantasy, and nonfiction. I'll read one genre for a month or so and then switch to a different genre.

If you're looking for a laugh out loud funny, fast paced action book, this (and the rest of the series) might be for you. If you‘re looking for paranormal romance, maybe not so much. The romance felt like an afterthought. But I love this word and the honey badgers! #romantsy #paranormal

A wonderful second chance romance with two childhood abuse survivors. The romance was a little fast given that Psy have only recently embraced emotions & that both Payal and Canto have hidden their pasts and themselves from the world but it worked overall. Readers have had glimpses of the Psynet anchors in previous books but this book really brings them into focus and gives much more detail on the Psynet & how it functions. Release date 7/20/21.

An okay entry in a long running series. It was a little more convoluted with coincidental connections that were just a little unrealistic. Additionally, Brooklyn seemed to be less observant and smart than previously. A number of very obvious things happened and she seemed completely oblivious or it took her much too long to make the most obvious connections. I did enjoy the trip to Scotland and catching up with previous characters as well.

I got an ARC of this last year (I'm so behind on my reading!) but it is difficult to read because of the formatting issues in the ARC. I know that it's not the final version but if you are going to send out ARCs for review, make sure they are properly formatted for the readers. 😒

A very enjoyable history book. Wonderful narrative style with enough detail to make history buffs happy but not so much a non-history reader would get lost. It's a much broader book than the title suggests. #history

Librarybelle I loved this one! A part of history and royal history I knew very little about, and Goldstone really captured my interest throughout the entire book. 7mo
