So it appears that we are adding a new cat to our household. Currently we have a dog and a cat (Pages is 2 and Alabama is almost 6). Hannah, pictured, is 8. She belongs to my sis-in-law's aunt who is in a retirement home and can't keep her. I'm a little nervous about taking in Hannah (Pages is nuts!), but she's been living in a kitty hotel since November. Wish us luck! (Plus an orange female is cool!).
julesG Ginger girls are rare. Fingers crossed for a stress free adoption. I can recommend the Cat Mojo book. It really helped me. 7y

AmyG Hope all works out well. And how wonderful for you to take her in...as opposed to letting her go to a shelter. 7y
MidnightBookGirl @julesG I will definitely check that out! @AmyG Her owner has the funds to keep her at the pet resort I definitely, but obviously it's a less than an ideal long term home. I'm sure it'll be fine, but my dog is very... hyper? Insane? A pint sized bully? 7y

AmyG I hope you find yourself surprised. When I had 2 cats...they hated each other. But they just kept their distance amd we lived in peace. 7y
MidnightBookGirl @AmyG The Hubs and I have been married for 15 years and for most of that time we've had 2 cats and 1 dog. Our original 2 cats were a boy and girl, and eventually they were close (our make cat was very dominant). We got a female kitten when our adult female passed, and she and our male cat eventually warmed up to each other, but not super close. When he passed last year we just couldn't replace him (he was our first furbaby). Our female cat is 7y
MidnightBookGirl Pretty submissive, so I think she and the new cat will be okay (Hannah was on of 3 cats Aunt Cindy had, but 2 were taken in by her friend, Cindy was hoping to keep Hannah with her). It might be crazy for a few weeks though! 🐶🐺🦊 7y
MarriedtoMrT We adopted an 8yo cat on November and it was the best decision ever. We have two other cats but no dog. Good luck! My only advice is to take introductions slow, if you aren‘t already. 7y
MidnightBookGirl @MarriedtoMrT That's the plan! She isn't coming home with us until March 1st, so I thought I'd spend this month introducing them to each other's scents. So glad it worked out with your older adoptee! 7y
Eggbeater She's so cute! She's really lucky to be a part of your family. I love that you are taking her in. These things have a way of working out. 7y
MidnightBookGirl @Eggbeater Thanks, Lillie! I hope so. She is so pretty! 7y
Clare-Dragonfly Aww, pretty kitty! I hope the introductions go well! 7y
Purrfectpages She is a pretty kitty. And it‘s nice of you to try to give her a good home! 7y
GlassAsDiamonds What a sweetheart and seriously, you‘re amazing for doing this - I work with rescuers and the number of pets who are abandoned because of elderly owners is heartbreaking. Thanks for keeping her in mind. (& I‘ve been polling everyone about introducing adult cats (we have a rescue who may be coming home...!) so if you want any pointers, let me know 😊 ) 7y
