@ljuliel asked “Can you name a book that has been written within the past few years that will be considered a Classic 100 years from now , and why you think it will be?“

That's a hard one. Maybe The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. Maybe 100 years from now kids will read it while studying injustices of the past... one could wish.

A Year Without a Name | Cyrus Grace Dunham

Mehso-so

This memoir is a bit messy and feels like it ends too soon, but it's a story that needs to exist. Cyrus Grace grapples with gender and longing and feeling displaced. More gender queer voices in books can only lead to helping others on their own journeys, and Cyrus Grace definitely holds nothing back.

Another #NFNov read! I am always down for WW2 books, and the history is just as interesting as any WW2 fiction books. The loss of so many people is always awful to read about, but the back story of all the brothers on board added a personal aspect to history's infamous day. @Clwojick

2020 will soon be upon us, and one of my New Year's Resolutions is something I'm already working on- to post more often on Litsy. I took part in #Scarathalon in October and I'm doing #NFNov now, with #WinterGames coming up soon, and I noticed that I posted lots of Blurbs, but did not Review lots of the books I read. So that's something I need to fix! What are your #LitsyResolutions for 2020? I know it's a bit early, but I can't wait!

Insightsintobooks I agree with you, I need to post more reviews. 3d

I have been a long time fan of Poundstone, so I got this audiobook awhile ago... and then proceeded not to listen to it. Thankfully the #NFNov challenge came along and I made time for it! This book is set over many years and the many ways that Poundstone searched for happiness with varying results. I can say that listening to this book certainly made me happy! @Clwojick

I have a bad habit of getting greedy on Edwlweiss and downloading a title because of a pretty cover, which is how I ended up reading the 3rd and final book in this series. But it was sweet and romantic (not high on the steamy scale in case you care), and I love a friends faking an engagement only to fall in love trope!

petersonks15 I read the first two and felt the same, not as steamy as her other books, but still enjoyable. 4d

A YA thriller that is part psychological/part supernatural. The Ruins meets the Scottish wilderness. 5 teenagers on a camping trip to celebrate one friend's birthday, tensions between them, and a possible cursed brooch found at a burial ground? Fast forward to a year later, when there's only one friend left standing. Is she crazy, like her doctors think, or did something stalk the campers, something not human? I particularly liked the ending!

I white-knuckled my way through this incredibly intense thriller, much like I do actual plane flights! From the first chapter to the last sentence, this book had me. It felt like an awesome mix of Sleeping With the Enemy and Sliding Doors. Two women meet at an airport, both in need of escape, but when they switch places and one plane goes down, how will the other woman feel slipping into her life? Just an amazing read!

I'm pretty sure the blame (credit?) lies with you, Littens, on how I discovered this book. I've loved the idea of May/December romances, esp with the elder being a woman, since Donna Love and Matthew Cory on Another World (I am still devastated that they didn't work out). So far this book is working for me as long as I don't actually think of how it's based on Harry Styles, because even now he looks like a high school kid and that is not my jam.

So I did enjoy this book, although it's a whole lot of memoir and not as much hands on examples of how to live a whole year on a shopping ban. The audiobook was good though, and I canceled 3 box subscriptions within listening to the first 20 minutes (look at the comments to see which ones I axed!)

MidnightBookGirl Here's what I culled- I've been getting tshirts from the Bookish Box every month for over 2 years... that's a lot of shirts! Why do I need that many tshirts?! I also canceled Pppfit leggings, because I have 4 pair now and I don't need more than that, and FabFitFun, which is fun... but I have so much stuff from other beauty subscriptions that I haven't touched it 5 years or more. I am now box subscription free! Con't: 1w
MidnightBookGirl I had already canceled Bark Box (my dog is so picky when it comes to treats, and we've been doing it for almost 4 years), and Sipsby (tea is great, but after a few boxes- some I only just opened, I realized that I now know what I like and it'll take me a year to drink what I already have). I do have digital subscriptions- Audible and Libro.fm, which I'll keep, but I need to cancel my Amazon Prime HBO and Shudder services. 1w
Crazeedi Fortunately I dont have the box subscriptions, though I've been tempted. I do have Amazon prime, but not the HBO. I spend enough through amazon. I hate going shopping. So it helps me, but it's almost too easy 1w

marleed Oh good for you! Except for books and photos, I‘ve donated about 2/3 of what I owned 7 years ago. It took me 6 years to get there and it‘s very liberating. I live in a much smaller space than I used to and have just a handful of boxes of storage most of which was owned by my kids when they were small! I have nothing stored under beds, piles of space in closets, and empty drawers! 1w
MrBook Wow! Glad you liked this one! 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 1w
ReadswithWeenies I‘m afraid to read this one for fear of the guilt I will have looking at my possessions! 🙈 I‘ve definitely cut back this year but then I look at my bookshelf with towering piles of unread books, clothes in my closet with tags still attached, and piles of shoes that were unworn this summer. So maybe I DO need to read this...😬🤭 1w

This book was just endlessly interesting and funny and poignant, and I really loved Mo Rocca's narration. MidnightBookGirl @MoonWitch94 my friends took me there for my 40th. Turns out I'm not a fan of mead, but their honey and candles are amazing! 2w
MoonWitch94 @MidnightBookGirl don‘t judge all mead by that place. My boyfriend & I love mead & hated all of theirs! You should totally try it again, sometime somewhere else. 2w
MidnightBookGirl @MoonWitch94 I might, but I don't think I am a mead or cider drinker. I like porters and stouts and red wines. But I would try mead again! 2w

#KeepLitsyActive

1. The community! This is my favorite, most beloved, and most safest place in the interwebs.
2. I love all the things. I don't do a lot swaps anymore, just because I feel they've gotten very $$$, but I'll probably do the #JolabokaflodSwap again!
3. Just more comments- something I need to commit to too. Events like #scarathalon helped me to get back to posting more, so I'm helping in the winter event!
Continued below:

MidnightBookGirl 4. I'm trying to post daily. 2w
MidnightBookGirl 5. I likes it all! 2w
MidnightBookGirl 6. Other than throwing money at it? Lol, just tell people about it. Participate. Comment. Engage. Respond with kindness or keep scrolling. 2w

Mishu94 I agree with the engaging part! There needs to be more communication 🙄 2w
ljuliel Great points. 😊 2w
hermyknee @MidnightBookGirl i agree with a lot of your points! I enjoy swaps, but I also feel like they‘ve gotten pretty expensive. I‘m pullin‘ back on those (well, my bank account is pulling back 😅) 1w
MidnightBookGirl @hermyknee Yes! I don't mind seeing them in my feed at all, but I'm trying hard to save more. I like the idea of a more simplified swap that just includes 1 book, or something similar. 1w
