An exciting new anthology from the journal Time magazine called "the biggest 'little magazine' in history." To commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the venerable Paris Review, Picador is proud to publish a unique anthology based on the themes of modern life. Like the work of the writers included, this book will inspire a dizzying range of thought and emotion, serving as a cumulative and breathtaking "mirror" to the world we live in. To appear: Jack Kerouac Norman Mailer Louise Erdrich Jonathan Franzen Gabriel Garca Mrquez William Burroughs Denis Johnson David Foster Wallace Raymond Carver Italo Calvino Grace Paley and many more.

Over the past couple of weeks I've found it difficult to focus on reading with everything that's been happening. One comfort as I doomscroll has been the Art of Fiction tweets from Paris Review. A few of my recent favorites:
"Fiction is freedom" (Sontag)
"I hate almost all rich people, but I think I'd be darling at it" (Parker)
"I am not very bright or very witty or very inventive after the sun goes down" (T Morrison)

Squeeeee! The Bay Area Book Festival‘s first panel - The Book Review: Top Reviewers Share How It‘s Done. I have gotten more interested in reviews after reading the judging of the Tournament of Books that happens online each March. There have been some exceptional reviews there that reveal everything you need to know about a book in order to pick it up, and a bit about the perspective of the person reviewing it. #bayareabookfestival

Lindy Sounds like a great panel. 👍 6y
