We read this for bookclub recently. It was ok, but I thought I'd like it more. I like the movie better! 🤫 We had a good conversation about it though which is what bookclubs are about, anyway.

shanaqui Aw, I think the movie and book are so different it's hard to judge which one is “better“. There's so much more Welsh stuff in the book which got cut from the movie... which makes sense, but kinda sucks. 2w

I enjoyed this book, but I wish I had read The Glass Hotel first. I really liked the Station Eleven references (world building!) and I understand there were also a lot from The Glass Hotel that I didn't pick up on. I'd like to read that soon and then try this one again.

Blueberry Are they all three a series? 2w
NataliePatalie @Blueberry No, but they take place in the same universe (kind of), and some of the characters in it are from her other books. 2w

Just finished this one. Was seeing lots of hype for it but honestly wasn't super into it? Not much substance, main character wasn't interesting and the only juicy reveal wasn't until the end, but not interesting enough that I'd read another one. Felt very 2010 supernatural YA trilogy.

You Love Me: A You Novel | Caroline Kepnes

Third book in the YOU series. I thought the first two books were exciting, but this one felt really lackluster. Maybe after two books & three TV seasons it just doesn't feel as fresh anymore. Mary Kay isn't very interesting and the "oh shit" moment doesn't happen til the very end; and when it does the conclusion just falls flat and feels unfinished. It would have made an interesting conflict in the middle of the book rather than an ending.

Blueberry I've never seen or read this series. 1mo

Been reading these with Andrew (finished You Suck a couple days ago, started Bite Me yesterday). He's really enjoying them. I am enjoying them, though slightly less. They're fine...but they definitely read like a man wrote them in the early 2000's, if that makes sense? But I am enjoying reading together, and it's hard to find books that he's interested in, so I'll take it 😂

I had heard of it before, but didn't actually give it a listen until I stumbled upon a used copy of this at the store. Nine Perfect Strangers | Liane Moriarty

Last year I got really into the show Big Little Lies, starring Nicole Kidman! After finishing Big Little Lies I learned it was based on a book by Liane Moriarty. I put it on my TBR. Last month I saw a commercial for the show Nine Perfect Strangers, also starring Nicole Kidman! It seemed interesting & vaguely ominous. I looked it up & it's ALSO based on a book by Liane Moriarty! The show comes out in August, so this time I'll read the book first.

For June bookclub we picked a LGBTQ+ book for Pride month! I ended up finishing it way early...my hold from the library came quicker than expected, and it was just an easy book to get though! The audio is read by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, In the Heights) and he did a great job. I love that they picked a reader not only of the same ethnicity as the characters, but a strong advocate of the LGBTQ+ community.

Blueberry I gave it 4/5 stars. 1y
