Originality: 3/5. A twist on a murder mystery. I found that the characters who populate the forest dwelling homeless troupe tested my ability to suspend my disbelief a bit, and they were much more archetypical than the cops, but I imagine Noonan is setting herself up for future books using some of the same characters, so I‘ll give her the benefit of the doubt.

Very entertaining. One of the very early "chapters" gives away the sex of the antagonist so one of the possibilities that we are led to believe doesn't hold water. But that shouldn't deter anyone from reading this. That is only one detail and only one antagonist-possibility of a complicated, very entertaining story. The characters are interesting too. I understand why it became a series. Recommended.

It was ok and just ok, for me personally. Almost gave it a Pan rating and literally almost bailed on the book. Edit: thought about it...changing the rating. Not nearly as well written as other books I've rated "so-so", nor does the storyline excel compared to those books I've rated so-so", albeit for varying reasons.

Guys, this was a good one! A ton of twists, and I could not put it down. The book is about "lost girls" who go missing on the streets of Portland, one turns up when her body is found after she dies crashing a stolen car - a car whose owner is also desperately searching for his missing 17-year old daughter. Full of secrets, and mystery this is a really unique book and a great read!

Laura Mori catches her first investigation case when the crash of a sports car lights up the night sky. The police are able to identify the car as that of Kent Jameson, celebrity author of Sunrise Lake. Jameson fears that the body is his daughter Lucy.

Lab reports reveal that the body was not Lucy, but a runaway named Kyra whose disappearance has been linked with other missing persons who disappeared from the streets of Portland.
