A Long Shadow
A Long Shadow: An Inspector Ian Rutledge Mystery | Charles Todd
3 posts | 4 read | 2 to read
Seamless in its storytelling and enthralling in its plotting. Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel Dark and remarkable.Once [Todd] grabs you, theres no putting the novel down. Detroit Free Press The Winston-Salem Journal declares that, like P. D. James and Ruth Rendell, Charles Todd writes novels that transcend genre. A Long Shadow proves that statement true beyond the shadow of a doubt. Once again featuring Todds extraordinary protagonist, Scotland Yard investigator and shell-shocked World War One veteran, Inspector Ian Rutledge, A Long Shadow immerses readers in the sights and sounds of post-war Great Britain, as the damaged policeman pursues answers to a constables slaying and the three-year-old mystery of a young girls disappearance in a tiny Northamptonshire village. Read Todds A Long Shadow and see why the Washington Post calls the Rutledge crime novels, one of the best historical series being written today.

Bit late with this month's Amazon Prime First Reads choice. A bit of a left-field choice for me, but I'm feeling particularly contrary at the moment.

Day 31 #BestOfJanuary #ReadJanuary Actually only 9 books read this month, not the 10 Goodreads has (since one was a bail). I think my favourite was A Long Shadow - it's part of a dark post WWI mystery series.

Pickpick

First book of 2017 finished! Not quite as dark as the last one I read, but still not a cozy mystery. Luckily the faithful #AceOfHearts was curled up next to me as I read.

Tanner @Joybishoptx @beagle.mama He's a sweetie, but typical beagle (and fast, so you have to watch out with food, garbage, and used tissues around him). Sweetest disposition ever, though. Beagles are wonderful! ❤🐶 7y

Joybishoptx @Tanner my dog is "officially" part corgi and chihuahua but I swear she has some beagle in her. 7y
Tanner @Joybishoptx If her nose gets her into trouble, definitely beagle! 7y
Joybishoptx @Tanner yes. All the time. She has a thing for unused feminine hygiene products. And the tissues! Omg.... 7y
Tanner @Joybishoptx Thank goodness they're unused! I won't get into what Ace did at my ex-in-law's... we were all mortified, except for Ace! And yeah, what's with the tissues‽ 7y
