I tried. Couldn't get through the stilted dialogue and forced plot.

(Book 4 of 2018). This was a fairly interesting comic but I wish it had more back story on the Mer, their rules for visiting land, and how their world works. Everything was just glossed over and I wasn't a fan of the insta-love.
I waited until today because I wanted a finish as many as I could yesterday. So here is my final Year in Books for 2017! I don't think I did too shabby :)
Basically the cw in a graphic novel. It had everything. Murder plot, evil sea monster, mermen, teen angst, love interests. Bought it because of the back description "beware. The heart is a fragile thing. It can be broken...or eaten". No regrets.

The beginning of this graphic novel gave me some serious Twilight vibes. A girl moves to a new town and catches the eye of a mysterious guy who's not entirely human. It's basically Twilight, but with mermaids instead of vampires. That being said, the writing is fantastic and the artwork is absolutely gorgeous. So even if Twilight isn't necessarily your thing (and it definitely isn't mine), you'll probably still enjoy this story.
I like the art, and the story is enjoyable although predictable. This galley had pages missing here and there so continuity is shot in my case. #NetGalley
